Is O playing chess while we are playing checkers?

O's offer to Tua is a bit baffling to say the least, because he is about as close to a lock as any player in the country. From our eyes this offer is (a) going to burn bridges with Brennan (which we were all proven correct after seeing his de-commitment) and Lowell; and (b) is a move to show the Lane Kiffen is coming to be our OC.
I would like to think that O has a little more common sense then we are giving him credit for, thus, there has to be an alternative motive to the Tua offer.
Could the Tua offer be a distraction that allows him to target someone else? Who would that person be? And why would the distraction be necessary?

NOPE
no smokescreens
O clearly really believes we are getting Kiffin, and thus Tua.
Kiffin won be here for 3 years but whatever.
Its not like he tried to get Kiffin before and then settled for someone like Noel Mazzone.

Pretty sure he just messed up and lost our best recruit. No chess.

The trust that some people have in O is unreal.

Why are we so concerned about getting the best available? Myles was one of us, it was his dream school. We should just go with who wants to play here the most.

No Myles was one of the top Elite 11 qb's . That's why we should go with him!

It's gonna be yuge. Tremendously yuge. The best recruits. The best coaches. The best gameplans. The best. The VERY best. We're going to win so much. You know it. I know it. Everybody knows it.

O is either;
a) a genius with an amazing plan
b) a huge fricking idiot
So far he isn't looking too bright.

He's a more accomplished DL coach than me, no doubt about it. It is also entirely plausible that he's screwed up and miscalculated severely.

Perhaps next time he'll step up his binder game, and he won't have any reason to worry.

Seeing as though Coach O has been recruiting kids to major college programs for decades, I am going to go out on a limb and say he probably knows the basics... The people that thing he just didn't know what he was doing, screwed up, and lost one of our best commits are laughable.
The guy knows what he is doing and understands the results of his actions. There is a reason he did what he did... Now whether or not it works out is a different story. Only time will tell... I'll believe, if only because if I don't then I have nothing to look forward to for years to come. So frick it, , I'm on board Coach O.
