Do they do press releases or anything? A simple "yeah our beer was terrible, so we decided to scrap the recipe and reformulate to make a good beer" type thing would be helpful.
Yeah, because I always see businesses say "our products used to suck, but we're doing better now."
It's the folly of starting out with a singular focus on your "concept" rather than your product - especially when your product is by definition a CRAFT product. I'd be happy to see them overcome the hurdle, even if it's a completely self-imposed and avoidable one.

Nice to hear about the parade ground. Last years was so bizarre. It was thin and really drinkable. If they called it a strong brown ale, I don't think anyone would have complained about it. Glad to see it's back to being good.
I still think Parade Ground needs more coffee. It has a ton of chocolate notes this year, and is really good. But I don't get the coffee from it that I should. Maybe mocha is a better description. But that shouldn't dissuade you from drinking it. It's so much better than last year's, and it's actually lower in ABV.
Ditto for Rougarou. They dropped the ABV from 9.7% to something closer to 8.0% and simplified both the grain bill and hop additions. There was 3 pounds/bbl of Citra added as dry hops. Really good beer this year.
Juke Joint is now Mosaic/Amarillo. Voodoo is Citra/Simcoe.
New brewing team is doing a good job over there now.

Parish and Great Raft made press releases for revamping their pale ales.

Seriously, go by the taproom and try the beers. It's kid friendly.
No time for that. I don't get home until 5:30, same with my wife, and i don't live close to the brewery. I also have a 2 year old, and we have to cook.

The pale ale is getting there. Juke Joint is perfectly drinkable now. It had a nice dank aroma when I had it the other day. This year's coffee porter is much improved. The stout is legit. Double IPA is coming soon. The amber is going away.
And some sort of information from the brewery would be helpful. I wasn't saying for them to literally say "we suck", but admitting that your beer isn't what it should have been, and revamping the recipe and letting people know it's not the same as it used to be, would be helpful for them.

The taproom is open Saturdays and Sundays... plus the new Juke Joint, Voodoo, and Parade Ground are available in cans.

How is the taproom kid friendly?

All ages are allowed in. So if you wanted to stop by with the wife and daughter, you'd be more than welcome to.

For the new recipes, have they been distributed through the local accounts, and replaced the older versions? Realistically, I don't have very much time on the weeknds, especially right now, to go by the brewery. Most likely will have to try it at a restaurant like Chimes or somewhere.

...how?
or is it just a north LA thing that taprooms are 21+?
Posted on 11/29/16 at 2:26 pm to BugAC
Yeah, they have all been distributed... Juke Joint starting back in early to mid October and Voodoo starting a few weeks later.
That doesn't mean retailers have switched out product of course, but they are all dated, so definitely any cans of those with a November date should definitely be new batches.
All Parade Ground out there should be current.

Because it's perfectly legal here, I guess. I think that sort of thing is Parish by Parish, not statewide.

Question regarding the 2, if you can answer them; what all was changed in the recipe? Hop varietals, malt bill, water source, salts?

Everything but the water source, obviously, and the yeast. Water chemistry, malt bill, hop selection, and hop schedule is all new.

I'll give it a try next time i'm out and about. As I stated earlier, might i suggest press releases, or a blog update on the website. I think this would really be helpful. I went to the website and the facebook page and haven't seen anything regarding this.

I haven't spoken with anyone at Tin Roof in a while but I did hear their rep saying they're not announcing anything until they're done finalizing the recipes.
Posted on 11/29/16 at 2:42 pm to BugAC
That will be happening, once older recipe product is rotated out of the market and a few more changes are made. It's intended to be a gradual shift.

Recipes aren't final yet. Getting there, but still some tweaks. Voodoo (dropping the Bengal) will have a completely new can design. I don't think they will announce anything officially until they are happy where they are. I'm just telling you what I know based on talking to Michael, who is really cool to talk to about beer and brewing. He's a lot more receptive than the previous guy.
