Someone please clarify- did O say in the presser he wanted to run the spread?

I was a bit rushed and had in laws galore around, so had a hard time hearing every bit of the presser. But I feel like I remember him saying this.
Apologies if this has been discussed

Yes. With a Dual Threat QB

He wants to be multiple. Wants a dual threat QB.

He likes a quarterback who has the want to attack the defense with both the run and the pass and certainly has the quality to look to do the things that we ask him to do

Yes he did. I wish someone would ask him about what he said when he took the interm job saying he wanted a dropback QB and pro style offense. Why the sudden change?

He said he believes you have to run the spread offense in college football with dual threat QBs and still be physical.
It sounds like he wants to bring the USC spread-type offense to LSU.

Yes, and wants a d/t qb. Many on here think Brennan is purely a drop back passer but if you have ever seen him play that's not entirely accurate. He is no Jalen Hurts but he can definitely move. He will need 15-20 pounds to keep from getting killed though if they plan on using him in a true pass option role. Narcisse is a true d/t qb but I believe Brennan's accuracy is better. In either case LSU is sitting pretty with these two guys, imho of course.

He said he thinks you have to be able to run the spread and be multiple. And you need a QB that can be a dual threat.
People are taking what he said like he wants a Kevin Sumlin offense.
Last time I checked Flynn was pretty dual threat. You just have to be a threat to run

Which is 180 degrees from what he said when he took the interim job. Specifically said he was going to recruit a pro style QB.

This one is easy, Derek Ponamsky made him change

USC never had a Dual Threat QB. They ran the West Coast offense based primarily under center.

He realized this after he played Bama . Your not beating the tide with a statue at QB.

0 points against Bama. Maybe he saw all he needed to see with the offense that was being run.

When did USC run a spread offense? Under Lane?

You have to be careful, though. The Saints at one time rebuilt their defense to stop Michael Vick (the track speed defense). Those guys couldn't stop anyone, including Michael Vick. You need to acquire good players and craft an offense that gets them in position to succeed.

I am aware. However, I would expect that O is looking for LSU to look similar to USC's spread offense when Carroll was there.

That's what I'm trying to say. It wasn't a Spread Offense. Go look at some '05 tape. Everything was ran under center and had Pro Style concepts. What O wants (Or should I say what Ponamsky wants) is a Power Run Spread
