Would Nirvana have basically been remembered much like Puddle of Mud has?

That was no normal overdose, Yoko laced his pot with something to break up the band.

1. Courtney had him killed
B. Puddle of fricking Mud? Seriously? They were waaaay bigger and were way more influential than that fricking band.

Would not end up with the cult following. Let the downvotes proceed, but they peaked. It was all downhill from there. As far as LEGACY goes, being killed/suicide helped tremendously.

They would have been outed as nothing more than simpletons who appeal to teenagers with daddy issues.

Actually I think they already are.

No Foo Fighters and David Letterman would have died in 2000.

Nah, nirvana inspired a lot of those bands. Nevermind, utero, and unplugged were huge. The death helped push units but..people liked the music to begin with.

Band would have broke up soon anyways.

I think a better question is what if Andrew Wood of Mafunktion and Mother Love Bone hadn't OD'd? His death is what caused Temple of the Dog to form, which launched Eddie Vetter and Chris Cornell to prominance and spawned Pearl Jam and later Soundgarden. Without these 3 bands, the grunge movement that Nirvana became the standard barer for doesn't materialize, and Metal continues to dominate rock. Nirvana becomes a niche Seattle band with STP. Without fame, Kobain never kills himself. Foo Fighters never forms. The entire course of music is irreperably altered.

If Kurt Cobain was alive then Dave Grohl would be the most famous member from Nirvana

Solid chance he would have ended up a burnt out, fat, shell of his former self, much like Axl Rose.

Nah, they would have been remembered for popularizing their style of music. Cobain was a mess anyway.

Should be a verb, I'll allow it.

"He suicided himself"

Cobain: pathologically self-absorbed. The grunge angst = birth of the snowflake.

Suicide was the best thing he ever did (for his legacy).
