Fox Sports - "Houston fell to Memphis, 48-44 in a wild, but somewhat uninspired effort from Herman’s club, in their third loss of the season."

Fox Sports - Clock management issues a problem for Herman's teams all year. "Herman’s defense gave up 555 yards overall and 34 points in the first half Friday, numbers that certainly aren’t going to cut it next year against Nick Saban at Alabama or Bob Stoops at Oklahoma. Nor is some average clock management that could have cost Houston the game. Not using the clock to the Cougars' advantage has been a staple of Herman’s teams all year.

Good point, Texas shouldn't take that risk. LSU will have to settle for him.

I mean... no one is a sure thing. But Herman is FAR more of a sure thing than O and I think our ceiling with him would be significantly higher than with Jimbo

They're all, "all in", and not even sure if they have a real winner. "All in" on hand that appears pretty weak.

Hot take: no coach has ever been a "sure thing."

Heard on the radio earlier some guy talking about how he's seen this before -- hot commodity at a smaller school moves to a P5 and flames out. "Time and time again."

Right. Because that's how it f'ing works. Some work out, some don't. You don't hire a guy you know will get you 8-4 every year just because you're afraid of the guy who has an equal chance of going 12-0 as he does of going 4-8.

I've been trying to get any Herman supporter to give a thoughtful analysis about why he is the guy.

Article could be written on 99% of college coaches changing jobs. It is utterly worthless analysis.

You can only judge them on what they've done in the past. We already know O sucks and beat 5 awful teams this year.

Oh, it's not worthless.

Texas has lost their target. Now they and sympathetic reporters will start throwing shade to lessen the impact.

LSU has Herman.

I mean... does it really need explaining? Look at his body of work. Listen to him in interviews. Listen to other coaches talk about him. The guy is going to be a superstar.

I didn't realize he was bringing his Houston defensive players with him

No, but he is bringing his clock mismanagemant skills with him, and they resemble Les Miles's, maybe even worse.
