I agree the timing is bad, but the hire is just lazy. Why wouldn't a cusa or aac assistant come on short notice? Why couldn't we get a minor league guy in the mold of Cannizaro? It's not directly allevas fault, but it looks bad. There is some thought that Maineri has underachieved the last 2 years. I can understand not making Omaha last year somewhat, but he really needs a strong run this year.

Ironic he fires the coach responsible for the money at his disposal for the upgrades. At one point only two schools were bringing in more money from football, UT and UM.
So again, riding the coattails of a an already established program.
