They got that $$$ from filling their 40k max capacity stadium a little more than half way. Must have got a big payoff from being accepted into the BIG12.... oh wait

But I thought it was a done deal?

Texas will buy Houston and Herman

Tilman sure is loose with his checkbook over a school in the barrio that has trouble filling a small stadium for a 22-3 HC and team that knocks off FSU, Okla, Lville.

Yea I'm sure a football program that loses money is prepared to pay 6-7 million/year for their coach. I don't care how rich Fertita is, that's just pissing money away.

He'll leave because he'll never be in the hunt in Houston with 2 losses as long as I live

Hmmm,
I don't doubt they try and keep him, but I'm sure he is hoping to land a bigger job than Houston.

Tillman farts $10million in his sleep, so it's not about money. It is absolutely about Herman and a school who's seeing unprecedented success and still failing to max out the stadium. That means expansion is moot and futile.
Also, this may be Hermans chance at a rocket blast opportunity. Things can always change and with the limited talent resources at UH, he may not get this chance again. Maybe he will.....I doubt it.
The man is leaving UH.

Houston needs to settle down and understand it's place. They are a stepping stone. That's not the worst thing in the college football world. For instance, having grown up in Memphis and watched that program suffer through mediocre to BAD football for 40 years, their administration and fans are pretty damn happy to be a coaching stepping stone right now. It's a hell of a lot better than the alternative.
Houston may have the money around to be better, but it's obvious they don't have the support. They aren't in a place like Boise, where they are the only game in town. In Houston, UH comes in somwehere around 6th on the sporting attention span list.

Well, despiration isn't a good look for any program, no matter the size. They need to understand that they are losing Herman, that nothing will stop it, and go line up the "next guy." They've made three blockbuster hires for a program that hasn't accomplished much. Their fans and administration, and especially their boosters it seems, need to trust that process and let the powers that be go make another solid to great hire.

Houston can match any offer made to Herman, that seems to be a given. But Houston can not be competitive when it comes to paying a good/great staff to compliment him; that's what drove the Head Hawg from Whisky & seems to be somewhat of an issue at FSU & Jimbo. With a 40K stadium, there will never be enough revenue to support a top 5 program. As it is now, the school is funneling money by the bucket full to the athletic dept just to keep it afloat.

I'd throw 15M/Yr out there at him just to watch them go "oops". What's worst case we get a great coach?

They missed their shot to move up the ladder when the Big 12 took their ball and went home. Money can't fix that.
