Ok, here are reasons why this thread is dumb:

1. Richt is not an upgrade to Les Miles. If anything, he's a downgrade.
2. Richt is not going to leave his alma mater after one year. Seriously? If he's such a great guy you think he'd screw over his own university by leaving one year in?
3. Richt has not once been even mentioned as a possibility because it's asinine to think he would be considered. See 1 and 2.

This is how I'd rank the odds right now. I have no inside info btw.

1. Jimbo - All signs point to him. He was coming last year so what's changed?
2. Herman - I think he's probably going to UT but who knows for sure.
3. Here's where it gets interesting. I think Fedora probably be the guy, but honestly, if it was me, I'd hire Aranda.

Why is Fedora, Aranda or even Holgerson better qualified?

They are definitely less accomplished but like the stock market and professional sports drafts, you are not paying for past accomplishments but potential.

Richt has peaked and peaked as a non-championship caliber coach. The others may not be either but they have a greater chance to do so than Richt who has proven for two for decades that he isn't.

You make some salient points.

Richt may not be an upgrade from Miles, but until he is the LSU coach it is speculative. LSU offers better resources and a recruiting base than Georgia which may propel him to the level he could not achieve at Georgia.

He may leave the U if he feels the city is not the best fit for his family even if it is his alma mater.

I don't recall Nick SAban being touted as the next LSU coach in 1999.

Other than Jimbo any other gettable coach would be the hire on potential type. The same would apply to Richt but he has much credibility in this league. Hopefully Jimbo will be the guy they want and he wants to be here.
