Help me out. I want to upgrade my hunting collection. Is there anything out there with more bang for your buck than kuiu? Sitka is out because I'm not paying $2,000 for new gear. Any others?

Depends on what you hunting.

Check out pnuma. I'm in Montana now mule deer hunting and have abused the hell out of it and it's held up well. I also wanted something that had a western US pattern that I could also wear in SELA duck hunting. Best part is it's free shipping and a lifetime warranty.
All the folks up here wear KUIU and seem to like it so you can't go wrong with that either.

Want something universal. Don't really care about local deer hunting. I hunt box stands and can literally wear anything warm. I really want something for duck and midwestern winter whitetail/elk.

For deer, regardless of terrain, ASAT is the tits. Deer see in gray tones and shadows make your outline disappear. ASAT is designed to accentuate shadows.
Duck is completely dependent on what you hunt. Birds see color. If you're hunting timber, then brown tones and tree bark rule the day. If you're hunting corn fields, then corn stalk yellow patterns are the best. Buck brush, marsh grass, cattails, they all look different. The best universal duck camo I've found is muddy water camo since it accentuates the muddy water you're likely hunting in.

Think the same people involved in Sitka started Kuiu.

I have quite a bit of KUIU stuff. Word of advice, order two sizes bigger then normal. I have a 2x softshell that is really a large. The pants seem to almost run normal though. I loved the stuff when it was all made in the US and Canada. Since Jason moved some production to China I have backed off. IMO Sitka is still the best.

KUIU has an incredible weight/warmth/quality/price ratio IMO. All of those are important for spot and stalk hunting where you are deep into a territory away from civilization. It's irrelevant for whitetail still hunting and waterfowl and the patterns KUIU offers wouldn't work well for either.
Coco mentioned ASAT camo by First Lite, that's the most versatile pattern for a "do it all" but still isn't ideal for everything. You could invest in KUIU for your layering system and then specific outerwear towards whatever game youre going after. That's kind of how Im set up.

if you don't get hung up in the whole camo thing, any mountain gear company makes far superior clothing at lesser prices. Just buy the earth tones. IE Patagonia, north face, mountain hardware, marmot, etc.......

How do you figure that one?
KUIU - 145 Midweight Merino - 90/10 Merino/Nylon - 6.7 total oz - $74.99 (vented)
Patagonia - MIdweight Merino Crew - 80/20 Merino/Polyester - 6.3 oz - $99
KUIU - 210 Merino Zip Off Bottoms - 52/42/6 Merino/Poly/Nylon - 8.6 total oz - $89 (zip off, don't have to take your boots off if hiking)
Patagonia Merino Thermal Bottom - 78/19/3 Merino/Poly/Spandex - 9.3 total oz - $129
KUIU Super Down Hooded Jacket - 850 down fill, 10 total oz, $250 (lighter, warmer, cheaper)
Patagonia Hi-Loft Down Sweater - 600 fill, 18.7 total oz, $279
Mountain Hardware StretchDown RS Hooded Jacket - 750 down fill, 14.9 total oz, $320
You could do this for every comparable garment.

Just drop the money on Sitka. I did it this year and do not regret it at all now. Expensive bow and everything with it, expensive binoculars, expensive range finder, etc. It only makes sense to have expensive clothing on as well, right?

Love my KUIU gear, tried it out in Colorado while Elk hunting. Super light, warm and quite. I called them and told them where i hunt and what the avg temps are and they made a list of everything they would suggest. I had an Elk come within 10 yards of me and never knew i was there.

Which pieces did you end up getting?

Just an FYI but all of KUIU's clothing is 30% off for the next four days.
