Yeah. I might be a tad slow this morning. Went early and hard at the tailgate yesterday.

I am a firm believer that conference championships should hold a lot of weight in the selection process. If PSU gets to the B1G CG and wins it, the committee should consider them first. However, I think they would get curb stomped in the CFP. I also think tOSU and Mich are much better teams, but it shouldn't be on opinion or the eye test alone.
If Wiscy wins it, it becomes more complex as their only losses would be to Mich and tOSU. In that scenario, tOSU should get the nod (assuming a victory over UM). However, I would understand the logic behind Wiscy going to the CFP, again based on winning your conference.

If both were to win out, should tOSU stay ahead of PSU?
No......Ohio State lost to Penn State in the field
Also, after the Baylor/TCU fiasco 2 years ago, zero chance the committee adds a team that doesn't even make their conference title game
Lastly, if they kept Ohio State about Penn State, sets a terrible precedent that conference title games are basically meaningless

This won't matter though because Michigan will eliminate osu from contention completely in two weeks.

The hate is strong with you.
What if Wisconsin wins the Big Ten? do you make the same silly assertion then?

No because osu beat Wisconsin head-to-head so that is debatable. If at the end of the season Ohio state is sitting there with a loss to Penn State and no conference championship and Penn State is there with the conference championship it's pretty damn simple to see which one should be ranked above the other.

Not when one has two losses. It isn't so simple then.

Team 1: Won it's conference championship and beat team 2
Team 2: Lost to Team 1
hmm..
Team 2: Lost to Team 1
hmm..

I just don't see the committee putting Ohio Sate in if they don't go to and win the B1G CCG. The place a high value on winning that CCG.
Exactly.
After the massive public backlash against Alabama getting a Mulligan....the committee isn't going to alienate the public and cheat for network profits.
They and we wanted a committee to get rid of TV ESPN deciding shite.
You have to actually win something to get into the title picture...unlike Alabama scenario a few years ago.
False narratives and folderol - getting in through the back door are over.
I thought the point of the committee was to get rid of cheating from the networks for ratings.

If Ohio State's best opponents win out as well (which looks quite possible), they could potentially have four wins over 10-win teams (Oklahoma, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nebraska).
Going 4-1 against such teams is a playoff-caliber resume. If it isn't, I don't know what is. Bama won't even play a double-digit win team until the playoffs.

I really don't care about conference champions. That was thrown out of the window a long time ago after Bama won the NC in 2011. It should be about the four best teams. These should be the four teams in the CFB Playoff if they win out.
Bama
Michigan/Ohio State Winner
Clemson
Louisville

One point we're missing is that comparing resumes isn't just relegated to Penn State and Ohio State.
Washington's loss yesterday opened the door for two B1G teams. *IF* Penn State were to win out, then one could compare Ohio State to Washington. The Bucks would have a vastly better resume than Washington. Four wins against CFP top 10-15 teams vs 0. It's a no-brainer. Both PSU and OSU would be in.

As an OSU fan, I am selfish and don't REALLY care too much about anyone else unless it impacts OSU
I would think that the committee takes conference titles games as the first tiebreaker if you think 2 teams are somewhat equal. That to me means if you have 1 loss, how do you compare to other 1 loss teams. If you have 2 losses, how do you compare to 1 loss teams. If you have 0 losses, how do you compare to 1 loss teams?
Under those scenarios, I think most agree that as of today OSU should be in, both based on who they have played/beaten/lost to as well as the eye test
Edit: my opinion completely but I don't see how anyone's 1 loss or 2 loss resume outside of Clemson's could end up better than OSU's if OSU wins out

Penn State - Washington is going to be a great Rose Bowl.

Although the history is short, the Playoffs thus far have never included a team that hasn't won its conference.
Ohio State was in the same position basically last year and the committee didn't buy that "better resume" crap last season and they were defending champs, so why exactly would the committee buy it this year if they don't win their conference?

Lol at you trying to compare Ohio State's resumes between the past two seasons. Their only ranked win last year was a top 15 Michigan. They have a realistic shot to have 3 top 10 wins plus 1 top 15 win this year.

Absolutely but they also have never had 2 conference champs having 2 losses and there is a very good chance of that if this scenario we are even discussing were to take place
