Wondering about LF7's future....

I just read where Fournette just said that he probably wouldn't be healthy for the rest of the year. I wonder if the lack of playing time this year, his injury, and another sub-100 yard game against 'Bama might have him thinking about spending his senior year at LSU.
Yeah, yeah, I know, first round pick/money/whatever. No doubt he'd go in the first round even if he sat out the rest of the year. BUT....
He's also a pretty fierce competitor. That became obvious when most of the (empty) talking heads on the various sports networks suggested that he sit out his final year. He shut that conversation down pretty quick.
And that got me thinking about whether or not Leonard might decide to come back for one more year. A year healthier, another year to try for the Heisman, one more crack at 'Bama. I could see him making that choice for personal reasons.
After all, it's not like one more year would make him any LESS of a 1st-round lock. And if he can get past the Bama curse and have a good game (regardless of whether we win or not), that can only help his draft grade.
Note, I only say that because the Bama D-Line is the next best thing to an NFL D-Line that he'll see while still in college. And so far, it hasn't gone very well for him (less than 100 yds, total, in two games against the Red Horde). Maybe that drops him a few draft spots in the eyes of the scouts, maybe not. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's a potential doubt that Leonard wants to remove before he heads off to the draft.
And here's the question: IF Fournette decides (for whatever reason) to come back for another year, how does that affect our '17 team?
Note that I'm not asking if he SHOULD come back, but what happens if he DOES come back?
Okay, shields are up and fireproof undies are donned. Let the spears and arrows fly.

might have him thinking about spending his senior year at LSU.

He is not coming back.

RB's have limited mileage in this day and age in the NFL. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to use it all up too soon. He has too many people in his ear already tell him to fold up his tent now. He gone! Would love to see him back, but He Gone!

we'd be a better team
but not happening. 0% chance.

Top 3 pick with a child. Would be absolutely insanity to come back.

He has done great things for this program but the coaching has failed him. It is time for him to get paid. And now his watch has ended.

I really feel like LSU trying to get him the heisman last year crippled the offense against the better teams when he was worn out. Also same set up this year and he got hurt. LF7 is awesome but lsu may fare better when they havent geared their offense around one player.

Thanks for all the replies, but nobody has pitched in yet on my actual question: what happens if, for whatever reason, he DOES stay for another year?
I'm just curious what the Tiger faithful think the impact would be on the team. How would it affect Guice, Brossette, Ducre, et al? What about Clyde and Cam in the upcoming recruiting class? What about our current QBs and Brennan/Narcisse next year (who could look forward to having LF7 in the backfield, with Guice, while they learn the trade)?
If Fournette stayed, might it affect the other draft-eligible juniors to stay another year as well?
Bigger question: would LF7 staying for another year make us even remotely competitive against Bama next year?
Would it affect the coaching search (probably not, but you never know).
I'm just playing the what-if game. And it's not impossible that this could happen; after all, the one recruiting battle that Sabin wins EVERY DAMN YEAR is re-recruiting his juniors to stay for their senior seasons.
That's the secret sauce to Bama's success - keeping seniors around means your juniors and sophs have more experience, giving you a much stronger rotation. Where most teams have a 2-deep rotation, keeping players around gives Bama a 3-deep of 4/5 star players for most of their positions.
It wasn't LSU's motif to convice juniors to stay. Les liked to pitch "3 years and then off to the pros" to convince talent to come here. That works to a point, but you can see the difference it makes when you look at the 4-year elephants in the room that stomp you year after year...
I'm not saying it'll happen. I'm not saying it SHOULD happen. But, if it does, what does 2017 look like for us?
If you don't want to play what-if, that's okay. But I'd really like to hear what others think the situation would look like on the ADMITTEDLY VERY SLIM CHANCE that this could happen.

But yeah it is absolutely, positively 100% not happening. There is 0% chance he comes back and I don't blame him one bit. He is a RB so he needs to go and he is definitely going to go.

There is zero reason to stay. His stock will not get any higher than it is now. It can only go down.

I am very curious to see how he does in the NFL. Has not been a factor in the 'Bama games./

He gone..He gone...He probably has already checked out.

I think he does a good job of getting the borderline players to come back and improve their status, but he's lost players like Julio, Cooper and others it seems like every year. They had some leave early last year too, I think.
he gets guys like Williams and Foster to come back. Those guys probably would have been 2nd rounders last year and are first round locks this year. I have no idea how he got Jon Allen to go back for one more year.

You can expect more of what we saw Saturday night at the next level... The holes just aren't there in the pros........

Hey after an injury riddled 2016 season he might just decide to take a chance at blowing out a knee before he gets his first NFL paycheck and return for the 2017 season.
