Wouldn't surprise me if he came back. I said that weeks ago and basically got booed.

Uh, I'm right here dude...

And in case you missed it, I agree that Fournette is probably gone (and it's the right call). However - we've been surprised in the past (La'el Collins and Kelvin Sheppard come to mind).

Maybe leaving is the obvious and best choice, but what if he doesn't go that path?

Look at it this way: LF7 is the first player that I can remember was always assumed to be 3 and out. Our recruiting plans assumed this, and most likely our long-range offensive planning did too - wait -

HAHAHAHAHAHA - Offensive long-range planning under Miles. I can't believe I actually said that.

(Sorry - I had to get that out before I snorted diet coke out of my nose. Moving on...)

In any case, with most other players you can at least entertain the notion of having them play for four years, and account for that possibility when making your recruiting plans.

In this case, though, NOBODY thought (or thinks) that LF7 would come back for his senior season. But what if he did? Heck yeah, we get the freight train back for another year. All sunshine and rainbows there, no doubt.

But if he comes back might there also be unintended (and not necessarily positive) impacts other places? For instance, Cam Akers?

So, remote as the chance might be, if he were to stay I'm looking for thoughts the impact on the team , not on him personally.

Collins and Sheppard had cases for improving their draft stock. Explain how LF has any case for improving his draft stock.

You must be a KC Chiefs fan (looking at you, Jamaal Charles...)

The Cowboys have had a great line last year and continues that this year...the only reason they get Elliot is because the rest of the team sucked to a 4-12 reacord and a great running back like Zeke Elliot gets to run behind an "All-Pro" line that is going to be there in Dallas for a while

Well, there's that to consider too. If you assume a top 5 draft position, who are the teams that look like they're in position to draft Fournette?

Right now, my list looks like this:

1. Cleveland
2. SanFran
3. Jax
4. Carolina
5. Tampa
6. Chicago
7. LA

Other than LA, if YOU were Fournette, do any of those teams have an O-line that you think you could run behind?

Cleveland would be a death sentence for a 1st-round RB (he'd be carried out on a stretcher before mid-season). That team is so bad they'd need 4 1st-round picks just to get parity with the NFL bottom feeders. SanFran isn't much better.

Carolina? Cam "Dude, why are there three footballs on the field?" Newton says hi (from his hospital room).

Jax/Tampa/Chicago? Maybe, assuming they can build some stability into their o-lines.

But in reality, any of those teams taking Leonard doesn't do his limited lifetime as a RB any favors. The only really good situation for him would be if a mid-tier team with a decent line trades up to get him. Packers, maybe San Diego.

I know I know, he doesn't control where he gets drafted. Or, maybe he does. I can think of two other "sure fire 1-st rounders" that DID dictate the terms of their draft status: Elway and Eli.

Just thinking out loud....

You may be right. But like I said earlier: the Bama D-Line is as close to an NFL defense as Leonard has ever (or will ever) see in CFB. And, he hasn't done so well against them.

I'm no scout, but to my uneducated eye that's something to consider. Then there's the injury. Playing with injuries is a given in the big leagues. While LF7 has played through that injury and run through defenses that couldn't stop a faucet from running (Hi there Ole Piss, nice to see you!), he hasn't fared well against a defense that looks like an NFL line (with or without the injury).

He's a once in a generation player at his position, no doubt. But don't for a minute think that there aren't things that could be improved on to make him a sure-fire lock for the top draft pick.

But this is all conjecture, too. He'll go to the draft, or he won't. He'll make that choice for his own reasons regardless of what the rest of us think.

I'm just asking a simple question - what if he chooses to stay? Might be a long shot, but if he does wouldn't that have a pretty big impact on our team?

Sorry, but one of the trade offs for being a top 5 caliber pick is that you're almost guaranteed to be drafted by a team thats terrible. Unless someone decides to trade away the house to move up, he's going to be drafted onto a bad team that likely has a bad o-line....and with the number of quality RB's that have been picked up in mid-late rounds in recent years, nobody is giving up the house to move into the top 5 for any position except QB.

I love LF7 and watching him play, but he would be making a very poor business decision if he came back for his senior year.

You don't seem to get that no one wants to waste time answering your question because it can never happen. Might as well ask how an advanced alien race bearing gifts would affect the planet Earth.
