A great OL makes RBs like a great QB makes WRs.
Extend Drew's career by giving him his best chance to win. OL + Defense should be the early draft focus.
Ingram, Lasco will be here in 2017. A large scale UDFA rookie battle, a FA signing as well is what I would expect from Payton.
Using that method before we uncovered PT23, Ivory, and Joique +
FA signing for a targeted versatile player

Fournette & Brees in the same backfield?
Yes, please.
Yes, please.

I'd rather not draft Trent Richardson 2.0.

This is all stupid. LF7 is a top 10 pick.
Saints are picking no earlier than 15th.
Jacksonville won't pass on him.

This team needs to focus on an OL for an RB to run behind . Not the other way around. Cart before the horse. Dallas did the right way and now its paying off in dividends.

We have cap space and a full draft. You can do both if you want.
What we need in the first is a pass rusher
What we need in the first is a pass rusher

I was speaking towards priorities in the running game.
I do agree that defense is the team priority and we definitely need an additional pass rusher.

If Zack Martin is there in round 1 I want Zack Martin
unless Darren Howard is on the board...cause I have gay love for Darren Howard

LF7 is compared to Adrian Peterson, Bo Jackson, and the rest of the badass RBs that you heard of and you don't want him lmao.

I used to love the commercial with Darren Howard running alongside of the bus.

and Reggie Bush was compared to Marcus Allen and Barry Sanders...How many Michael Jordan's are there?
comparisons dont always hold water.
I like aspects of LF7's game. He has incredible size and speed/vision for that size.
Concerns:
Competition. People in the NFL want to and will hit LF7 how does he react to it?
Individual Skillset: I don't see Adrian Peterson when I watch him. Even the Ole Miss game a couple weeks ago. He was hitting holes 15 yards in parameter and going 75 yards almost untouched. Those holes dont exist in the NFL game.
I see subtleness in his moves...but even his trucks are not natural they are usually givens. Players that gave up on the play and appear just to be trying to get him down...reminds me more of a Tebow or a Richardson on the college level. These players are being dominated not by pure talent buy by a gap in competition.
I dont see next level dominance in LF7 when watching him. AP if you watched him in college had "IT". LF7 is not the same back IMO. He might be as good as Gurley but he is not AP.
I also doubt his overall versatility as a back beyond being a direct workhorse running the ball. He does not seem like a natural at pass catching like a Marshall Faulk, David Johnson, LT21, etc.
He might take years to develop that skillset/might never click for him. In this offense that should be weighed as a considerable risk considering how we prefer to be a bit unpredictable with our formations and try not to tip our hat.

Lol, I just want us to do what any semi smart football team does. You draft the best player in the first round. Period, no exceptions. Quit talking about what we need when talking about first round picks.
And I'm only posting because the above has to be the worst scouting opinion I may have ever seen. Truly makes me wonder if you've ever watched Fournette play. Just absolute lunacy.

when you take your homer hat off in 10 years you might have a bit more insight on the situation to offer.
In all honesty as far as LSU backs go Jeremy Hill impressed me more on the college level.

That is what the Saints will do. Just don't do what most LSU fans do when the Saints pass on one of their players in the draft.

sounds like you don't watch any of his games.

I have watched all of his games. I am sorry LSU fans think Gurley is a poor comparison of ability.
No you are right AP, Barry, Jim Brown, and Emmitt are shaking looking at all that potential.
I am 100% convinced some of these posters were not watching college football in 2003-2004.

1) All the LSU fans need to prepare for Leonard Fournette to be drafted by Carolina.
2) While its early, we can't complain if the Saints pick LF7 in the first, get a tackle like Roderick Johnson or Ryan Ramczyk in the second and somebody like Montravius Adams, Kendall Beckwith, Carlos Watkins or Daeshon Hall for defense in the 3rd. That sets up your offense for the next 5 years, adds a defensive piece.
3) If we go exact opposite of above and go all defense, that's not bad either.

Brees is done in 1-2yrs. Most likely we will have a young QB as his replacement. Nothing helps a QB like a solid 3 down back like LF will be. Just look at how Zeke Elliot is helping Dak out in Dallas.

In a system like Payton's, you don't need 1st round running backs.. you need serviceable guys that can pass protect and run hard, with an occasional catch out of the backfield. The Saints are not the Vikings, Seattle, or Carolina.
I would LOVE to see LF7 in B&G, but it's just unrealistic and makes no sense. There's much more RB value in later picks/UDFA/free agency for the Saints. I'd much rather see Payton/Loomis invest in OL depth, DL depth, and DB depth.
