The Bama offense in SEC games

Thought this was interesting. Taking out all defensive/special teams points, just looking at the Bama offense.
27 points @ Ole Miss
27 points vs. Kentucky
35 points @ Arkansas
35 points @ Tennessee
27 points vs. Texas A&M
In those games, they are averaging 209 passing yards and 303 rushing yards. They are also turning the ball over 1.8 times per game.
If we can limit them to 150 passing (like Ole Miss and Tennessee did) and 200 rushing (like Kentucky did) and generate 2 turnovers, I think we can hold them to about 20 points.
Can our offense score 21?

Are you accounting for D/ST TDs?

Kiffin is a smart dude. It's going to be cool watching him and Aranda go at it.
But, yeah, I think we can score at least 28 on this team in our stadium. It just comes down to our o-line. They have been the weakest link during Alabama's winning streak over us.

You should also take into account their TOP and at what time they score most of their points. I believe they score more in the 4th quarter because of a high TOP because of their defense.

27 points @ Ole Miss
vs P5 teams, Ole Miss gives up an average of 35.8 points per game
27 points vs. Kentucky
28 points per game
35 points @ Arkansas
43.6 points per game
35 points @ Tennessee
35.4 points per game
27 points vs. Texas A&M
24.7 points per game
so really bama hasn't done anything special vs these teams, and in fact have done slightly worse than the average, against 5 of the 7 worst SEC defenses when it comes to giving up TDs

Unfortunately the scoring numbers against the averages are improving as the season goes. This is a sign of good coaching and a maturing team. Hopefully they are overconfident, but Saban's trademark is play every play with perfection and effort which limits the effect of mistakes in big games.
I do think LSU matches up well against their offense, and will limit them to around 20 points offensively which is better than LSU's average but enough to win if the Tiger offense can find some success.

I think our defense can score on their offense as well. However, if they score on our offense it'll be hard to win. This game wouldn't be so hard if their strength wasn't their ridiculous front 7. Take into account we are the best rushing team they will face off all season, but if we can't get it going in the passing game it's worthless imo.

quote:as a reminder, this front 7 is not last years, 6 of the 7 starters we faced are gone. in fact, with safety (and SEC leading punt returner) Eddie Jackson breaking his leg last week, theres only 2 starters back from our game.

their rush numbers are still very good, but they've faced very soft and young lines so far, imo. TAM has a true freshman guard and center, both outside the top 1000 as recruits. shouldnt be a surprise that bama wrecked that.

The last time we scored 21 v Bama was when?

OP actually makes me more concerned. I don't know if we can score 28 of you assume they will get into the upper 20's

Thank you master shake.
Our defense is top 3 in the SEC. Those teams are 8 and lower. I don't see them having as much success against our defense. Will be an interesting matchup no doubt. I believe it all depends on how we contain Hurts.
