Wow, big shocker

Say what you want now, but I hope in 3 years, after O has had a chance to ruin the program, you will be man enough to come back and admit you were wrong.
Have fun pouting through LSU's wins the rest of the year

Id still like an anti O person to tell me what changes so far aren't good for long term success. Its proven USC won with this practices.
I am not pro or anti O, just in favor of waiting to see how November goes before any of us should waste our breath discussing it. These last three games have been a blast. Loved every second.
But they haven't been any more fun than the Auburn, South Carolina, Florida stretch last year, against much much much tougher competition. What a bunch of wasted talk before seeing how November goes.
As for what changes he has made that could be bad for the long term life of the program, I am actually very nervous about the "once a Tiger, always a Tiger" welcome to anyone that has ever worn the jersey.
There is a time and place for former players in the program, but having current and former pros, with their agents and entourages in tow, hanging around the facilities during practices and workouts could become a very distracting, and potentially dangerous, situation imo.
I know the trend is to bash every single thing Miles did or didnt do here, but he kept this program about as clean as one can for over a decade, and I have little faith that O and potentially Kiffen will be able to show the same restraint by bringing in the Funtime vibe of the Carrol era Trojans.
Don't think for a second LSU would ever get the same level of leeway when it comes to potential rules violations that the blue blood programs like Bama and USC would.
There are people around the program that are already expressing concern about the people in the ops building.
Inviting a few guys to talk to the team and walk down the hill is one thing. Opening practices and workouts and facilities to anyone at any time is something else entirely and something that everyone should be concerned about.

The process continues is the most encouraging part of this.

I was at that same function, and I was assured that LSU didnt fire Miles with his SEC record, only to hire O with his

Event had less than 100 folks, business invitation only and you yahoos were certainly not there- but thanks for the humor
That's a little arogent to assume you'd be the only one on this board to be there since literally 10s of thousands of fans visit this forum on a daily basis. Don't be a prick

The scary scenario is alleva giving in to pressure to hire o if he beats bama. He needs to play out the process and stand strong.

Honestly, I'm starting to get depressed. After years of knowing good and well LSU was underachieving with that clown Miles, he finally gets canned and I can enjoy LSU football again. Well, that lasted a grand total of 3 games because the reality is, unless LSU starts losing, we're going to get Ed Orgeron. No matter that he has done absolutely nothing to prove he can get the LSU football program back to the level of being a SEC and national championship contender year in and year out. He wins, we're stuck. So as much as I want LSU to stick it to Alabama, I can't really enjoy it because it's basically a death sentence for the program. And for those of you saying, oh just give him a 2-3 year contract to see what he can do. Are you kidding me? With all the arse kissing he's doing and the good ol boy mentality of this state, do you really think it will be easy to get rid of Ed O if he doesn't put the program back on track? It will be 10 times harder to get rid of him, he will be entrenched for years. And guess what, if that does happen, and years from now he finally is gone, do you think LSU will be in the position they are in now, with unlimited potential to hire a great, championship level coach? Hell no, it will be right back to picking from among the scraps, which is what hiring Coach O is. I really can't believe there is not some voice of reason in leadership that can put a stop to this insanity, but it looks like that's not going to happen and LSU is going to take the dive off the cliff. SMH.
nailed it pretty much. I like O but let's finish the season first and conduct interviews before we choose anybody! Oh and I will enjoy beating Bama no matter who is coaching!

Process continues with other top candidates but it appears from this source the job is CEO's to lose.
In all reality it has always been CEO's to lose. If CEO wins out how in the world would anyone at LSU state to the players, students, alumni and fans that he wouldn't be the coach? The only thing that could change regarding that is the parameters as to what will qualify him to get hired.

If true, our "high level supporters" have low level intellects.
I'll bet you're pro-Herman, even if he (embarrassingly) loses to UCF today.

Gordy and Hanagriff were saying last night about how O is doing everything right as far as cultivating the people who matter as far as influencing the decision. Transparency with the administration and the press, reaching out to boosters and former players. He spoke to the New Orleans Quarterback Club this week. They said he was the first LSU HC to do that since 1977.
I agree with others in that it is his job to lose.. Give him credit- has coached at both ends of the country, knows Louisiana better than anyone, will recruit his arse off. Has many positives- forget that Ole Miss disaster. But even then, he was pulling in talent, which Houston Nutt won with after he was fired.
