This was hardly a shocking move in the Vikings’ locker room, where piles of money were regularly collected—then distributed as rewards—for injuring opposing stars. “It was part of the culture,” said Artis Hicks, a Minnesota offensive lineman. “I had coaches start a pot and all the veterans put in an extra $100, $200, and if you hurt someone special, you get the money. There was a bottom line, and I think we all bought in: you’re there to win, and if taking out the other team’s best player helps you win, hey, it’s nothing personal. Just business.”

LINK

I expect them to lose next year's 1st round pick and 2nd round pick as well as suspending their GM for the year since this was under Childress and not Zimmer.

Sounds like we need a couple of draft picks back.

Benson should've raised more hell when his team was made the scapegoat

Did you know players use to smoke cigs on the sideline during the game?

they had that Love Boat scandal too. Could you imagine how much negative press that would get this year??

back in '05 it did get plenty of attention but now I'll bet there would a lot more fake outrage and the league (Goodell) would administer some ridiculous punishment. Goodell wasn't the commish at that time I don't think.

the 2012 season started the decline for me. I use to follow the NFL more than any other league in sports. I still do but I'd say its more geared to just the Saints and fantasy football. Dead serious.

I didn't watch either conference championship last year and watched probably a combined total of 2 quarters of the Super Bowl. Things just aren't the same.

The last 5 paragraphs of your link sum it up. This was a non event that happened everywhere else and Goodell jumped on it and used our franchise as a scapegoat for the league. When I was a young lad many moons ago I had the privilege of meeting Alden Roche. He was an all-American from Southern who played several seasons for Green Bay. In short he said nasty and sneaky was the norm and eye gouging , biting anything was acceptable as long as you got away with it. Teams will use any edge they can get in order to win. That is the culture in the pros.

Saints win the super bowl in the Superdome if godell doesn't drop the hammer. Saints are only team to win super bowl in their home field.
