R.e. 12/3--could Florida have to choose between us and Bama in the SECCG?

Let's say we agree to the game on 12/3 tomorrow and both we and Florida win our remaining games. Let's also say Bama does except for losing to us and Tennessee loses a 3rd game in there somewhere as well. So, Florida would have the East clinched, but we would have to beat them for the right to play them again the very next week. Could they be put in a position where they have to pick who they'd rather play, us or Bama? Lay down, rest starters, show nothing on 12/3 to be ready to play us for the SECC the next Saturday or go all out to beat us and their "reward" for winning is having to square off against a Bama team with 2 weeks' rest?

I get all this is very unlikely and with 1-loss Florida would likely be going all out to get in the playoff, but there are scenarios where us having not played would absolutely damage the integrity of the league. They fricked this up so royally, but no one has a time machine. Hopefully someone smarter than Sankey figures this mess out. How bad do you think he wants Ole Miss and Bama to beat us to bail his arse out?

Possibility. Given the fact they are a punch of twats they would probably lose to us on purpose the first time. Then we'd beat them again!

12/3 is not a realistic option. Just won't happen

There is no reason for UF to play LSU on any date.

Either 12/3 or no game. It would be disappointing if LSU agrees to anything else.

There is no game, never was going to be a game once the cover hurricane came. It's not difficult to understand. There is going to be nothing for LSU to agree to. UF ain't playing.

11/19 is the only realistic option. If we hold on and refuse to give up our home game the game just won't happen. God frick Florida

If the game isn't made up - and I seriously doubt it will - I have a hunch the schools will amend the rules to only count divisional games toward division titles.

11/19

Since this date involves more than just SEC schools, doesn't it become an NCAA matter?

The problem with this is that you have to vote immediately or else this weekends results would bias each school. They will be voting in their own self-interest instead of what's best for the league.

Take Bama for example. If they beat Tennessee Saturday, frick no they're not voting for that. They are not going to beat a good UT team and miss out on winning the West because they lost a close game in Tiger Stadium to an LSU team who had 2 byes in less than a month to prepare for them and who avoided--though perhaps not their fault--playing their cross division rival.

However, if Bama gets upset by UT this weekend, then of course they'd vote for in-division only to count. They'd be voting themselves a mulligan.

I agree. I think there's a good possibility talks are going on behind the scenes. Alleva even alluded to it.

In a truly just world, things would finish like so:

LSU 6-1
Bama 6-2
A&M 6-2

UT 6-2
UF 5-2

And Alleva says HA FU.

I wouldn't concede defeat so quickly.

He definitely worked over the SEC commissioner but let's see how things play out.

You're absolutely correct. However much it makes them look like wimps, there's no advantage to them to change course now.
