Anyone have experience in dealing with GMFS? I'm building a home and my construction loan is with a local bank, but I plan on rolling my permanent home loan over to GMFS. Are they easy/difficult to work with? Any opinions....

I've dealt with them before and everything went fine. But you will probably end up paying two closing cost when you didn't have to.

why not build with a bank that does one time closings that way you don't pay closing cost twice. this is a total plug for the whitney bank one time close production loans

I refi'd with them a year or so ago and it was one of the easiest things Ive ever done. Super easy and their online payment stuff is easy to deal with. Would definitely recommend.

Only have experience with purchase, and subsequent refi to a lower rate on the same property, but they've been great to deal with for me. I would highly recommend them. While looking at homes, my broker offered to cover a $700 difference between the seller and I to make a deal happen. We didn't end up in that house, but I appreciated the gesture.

Had a GMFS loan officer there take me to lunch to go over stips on a loan for a spec house for my wife and I we had decided to buy. At least that's what I thought he took me to lunch for.
Instead he pitched me a multi level marketing supplement called Protandim.
Between that and the fact that he and the realtor actively hid the fact that the Elevation Certificate had been issued and indicated the home was built below BFE...I walked.
Others have had better experiences.
GMFS is UC Lending. When the latter ran into the ground in the late 90's, the former rose out of the ashes. They've been successful.

UC as in United Companies? There are a lot of guys from UC that's now with GMFS, including Brown.

they are good unless you have something happen and have to use home owners insurance. they will only pay in 25 % increments and have inspections in-between. horrible in that case.

Call Stephanie Chenevert at GMFS. Dealt with her several times and she is legit. She is one of their top loan officers.

I refi'ed with them, dealt with Grant Faul. Not as responsive as I would prefer.
