I'd urge people to wait and see how the NBA players treat the national anthem (if that sort of thing influences your decision to support the league financially or not) before you plunk down money on League Pass this season.

I support the players' rights to express their free speech personally, but my problem is the hypocrisy of the NFL (not allowing the Cowboys to honor fallen DPD officers with helmet decals) and the NBA (forcing Sterling to sell the Clippers and essentially removing his first amendment rights and rights to private ownership). Both leagues are far too SJW for me. And while I support gay rights personally, the NBA stripping North Carolina of the All Star game rubs me the wrong way as well.

I won't be supporting the Association by purchasing League Pass this year - will just use the illegal Russian feed as I am doing with the NFL.

Most people that care that much are on the Poliboard at the beginning of October, not Pels Talk.

the NBA is faced with the fact that unlike other major sports leagues, it has a rule requiring players to stand during the national anthem.
...There's no sign the NBA is planning to change its rule. Many of the league's most prominent players have already taken steps to draw attention to the police shootings of black men.

They have a history of reprimanding and punishing players that violate this rule, from the infamous case of Chris Jackson to the infamous Matt Barnes

quote:

Kings forward Matt Barnes on The Vertical Podcast with JJ Redick:

They don’t want you chewing gum. They told me, take the gum out of your mouth.

I was using the bathroom. They said you can’t miss the anthem. I’m like, “Man, I had to pee.” “Next time you’ll be fined.” I said, “Ohh, OK.”

Why do you assume the only league with a rule in place and a CBA renegotiation in another year would allow it's players to break said rule and appear weak? The Pels players have already said they're standing during the anthem.
