I'm not sure asik is playable at all in any viable lineup

You had me here.

not really ideal to have 12MM players that we need minutes from that can't play together

That's more of an Asik problem to me. Hill, warts and all, can offer flexibility and bring value back. Think Aminu- 3 next to a stretchy 4/not Asik 5 or as a 4 next to Davis.

Again, is that value worth $12M annually? No clue. But, unlike Asik, there is at least a path forward with Hill that I can see.

right but if Davis isn't going to play 40 as the biggest dude on the floor somebody's got to soak up minutes and ajinca can't stay on the court. So when asik is in for that purpose hill most likely has to sit

it's a glitch in the system that other teams will exploit
lack of quality depth up front is a killer
maybe jones can play some 5?

ideally pondexter could play with Davis and hill but who knows when that will be. playing asik requires a wing that can shoot and qpon is all we've got

Bruce Bowen averaged about 9 ppg in SA. Battier was pretty similar in Houston and even less in Miami. But they were elite defenders. Hill can earn that money without gaudy numbers if he limits the best wing player night in and night out

If a guy would normally score 25 on 19 FGA's and you limit him to 20 on those same 19 or make him take 24 shots to get those same 25, that is far more valuable than being an average offensive player.

But he will have to be close to that level to earn his salary. Pulling for him to do it
