Why would my turn signal tempo change?

My blinker has always had the same rhythm, slow and steady. Like 1, 2, 1, 2. Well yesterday I noticed my left signal is now a rapid tempo, more like 121212. The right turn signal is still the normal, slower tempo.

Clearly my car is on the verge of explosion but aside from that, what could cause this? I'm not worried about anythign serious but it just seems odd that it would happen to one side and not the other, also I've never seen the tempo change like that over time before.

I don't know shite about cars, but I know enough to know your blinker light is going out.

ETA: Or you're low on blinker fluid.

Dammit hog!

ETATA: There is a loose nut between the steering wheel and the drivers seat.

Do you struggle to fill the car with gas?

Your signal bulb is burned out.

$2, and 5 minutes later - you should be good to go.
