Why wasn't Craig the interim OC?

If we are looking for a fresh perspective and guy with a command for "modern" offense, seems like he would have been the better fit.

Because Ensminger actually has OC experience, for one thing.

there isn't going to be a massive overhaul of the offense, playcalling hopefully improves so they went with the guy that's been on staff for a while and knows the offense verbiage the best

Probably because he has no actual OC experience. He may have held a Co-OC label at Auburn, but in reality he left because he wasn't really allowed to call any plays, only give "input". He also has been here for what, 8 months?

Ensminger is a former OC (at several places) and has been here for a long time. They promoted O for similar reasons because he's put in at least more than a few months here and has former HC experience.

They arent trying to install a spread offense mid-season, that would be disastrous

That makes sense. I think he has a wealth knowledge. Hopefully they are leaning on him for a more updated perspective

"Modern" offense?

So you want to completely start fresh, 5 weeks into the season. Scrap the entire playbook, verbage, scheme- the whole enchilada?

Sounds legit on the X box. Real world, not so much.

I think he's happy to actually now have more input than ever, but the fact remains we cant blow up and install a whole new offense with 4 practices till we play our next game. It's just impossible.

What we need is slightly different play calling and tweaks here and there to try and get the offense into a rhythm.

I guess I understand the experience part. But the offense will be exactly the same as what got Les fired with Ensminger at the helm.

Craig was brought in for his recruiting skills and to try and develop the receivers.

Ensminger has held that position before. I would guess more experience wins out on this one
