I knew someone who was on chopped and said it was an incredible experience. He mentioned that contrary to how the editing makes the judges look mean with piercing glares, he said that the judges couldn't have been nicer. He also mentioned that there was about an hour in between each course and that the judges really took a lot of time to deliberate, contrary to the quick chats that are shown on TV.

I'm not sure if I could handle the time constraint. I entered an Iron Chef competition once (and won), and they gave us two hours which seemed to go by in a heartbeat. I can only imagine how fast 20 minutes goes by.

Besides, 20 minutes isn't long enough to sous vide anything. (kidding)

Also, I'm not a professional Chef, nor do I fit under any of the special categories. Looks like I couldn't apply anyway.

I've always wanted to do one of these competition shows especially iron chef. I would just tmneed the secret ingredient to be shrimp or crawfish,

How long do they allow them to plan a dish once they are told the ingredients?
