Let me tell you what I asked Gov. John Bel Edwards. Our black elected officials blindly support this man and don't even know the details of the plan.

Let me guess. He's saying he's upset because it's clear that the white folks no longer want blacks using the "white hospital".

For every black person upset about the murder of black men at the hands of law enforcement consider this.... Every time local & state government skips over black companies or projects and supports the white plan that is a bullet shot into the black economy. It is an injustice.
We are told pick ourselves up by our bootstraps but denied access. We are told come up with plans that are doable, and when we do you give the money to the white company. We are told if we do this or that we would get the contracts, but the truth is its all bull crap. Just like the excuses given when cops kill unarmed black people in America.
Justice isn't just convicting cops. It's giving equity in contracts and opportunity. When the government gave us voting rights and civil rights that was easier to comply with because it didn't make them miss any money. Every time white leaders do projects in our community and black people don't gain financially from it, we are done an injustice.
The sad part is our black leaders don't think like that

Gary Chambers, a co-chair of the blue ribbon commission, asked the governor at his news conference why Edwards did not choose Champion and pointed out Our Lady of the Lake's past hesitancy to build in north Baton Rouge.

Edwards doubled down on the state's partnership with Our Lady of the Lake. He said it made sense to use Our Lady of the Lake, the state's built-in partner for healthcare, to build an emergency room instead of a for-profit company based in Texas.

"My commitment was to the people of Baton Rouge, not to any healthcare provider," Edwards said. "And I certainly looked at the proposal which came from Champion, which doesn't run an emergency room anywhere, doesn't have a transfer agreement in Baton Rouge, runs boutique specialty hospitals that typically do not take Medicaid, and has not been approved by CMS to deliver emergency room care."
