1.01 hard brakes per week

So you accelerated through yellow lights or did most of your driving on roads with no stop lights?

The representative that I spoke with once I received my results indicated that the hard braking was the thing that "gets most people" that use Snapshot.

He also said that while other factors such as mileage and the times during which you drive (driving during "high risk" hours somewhere between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., I think) are considered, the factor that bears the most weight in Progressive's calculations is the hard braking.

I did mention that I had received hard braking penalties for stopping at yellow traffic lights under the conditions I described above instead of accelerating through the yellow light. I had actually started writing down the date and time of when such a hard braking indicator sounded. Didn't make any difference. He just said, "we do prefer that you stop instead of going through the yellow light." Oh well.

But like I said, 15% discount was better than no discount.

Just drive 10 mph and leave very early when you need to be somewhere.

I don't drive in Baton Rouge or Nola, plus I've gotten better at anticipating a change. Gets me is pulling into the drive way, a hard turn can count as a hard brake.
