re: Question regarding the black power fist at NFL games today

It's entirely possible to be proud to be white and nor racist...its just that y'all refuse to do it. You mix into your pride with and good dose of superiority and discrimination. Which always makes ig racist
Notice how usually, when people say they are proud to be black, it has nothing to do with feeling superior to whites, but more so a shared feeling of love appreciation and pride for there culture, history, customs and traditions?

quote:
What I find hilarious is that the same people who argue we disrespect the National Anthem and the Flag, are the same people who didn't want to bring down the symbol of the confederate flag. THE DIRECT OPPOSITION TO EVERYTHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE AMERICAN. The unity and pride shown was not to your fellow man of darker complexion under the current symbol, but unity and pride under the archaic symbol that helped to prolong, if only shortly, the oppression of my people.
Do you realize the national anthem is edited, we only sing the first verse. We don't include its outlook on slaves who wanted so badly to be free they fled. That mindset that we were wrong, traitorous for fleeing and joining the British if promised freedom, rather that to be owned, beaten, killed, made to work for profit never seen.
Was with you up to here.
quote:How are all US citizens not given the same opportunities? Does poverty play a role? Yes, but that effects all at specific poverty levels not just minorities.
Yes, we were so disloyal and unappreciative for wanting freedom and to be treated as an equal rather than less than those who owned us.
quote:
Wow, nothing in that says that the mindset that still exists among many white people, NOT ALL, is similar if not the same arse during or before the Civil Rights Movement or even Civil War
How the frick can you type that? are you that inept that you actually think this argument is anywhere near valid? If many white people shared any beliefs anywhere close to the 19 or 1860's there would not be a two term black president. It goes beyond that, but you insinuate that MANY (your words) are still racist, when it should be a few. If many still felt the way you claim then Obama would not have won the popular vote and electoral college twice.
quote:This is completely asinine. What opportunities are not afforded all US citizens based on the color of their skin? Please provide a valid argument here. If you want to get in an education argument, then explain to me how those schools are funded and why property taxes are generally lower with higher federal and state subsidies and why the return on federal and state dollars in the context of grades pales in the schools you will point to when compared to schools with opposing demographics.
ALL of US having the exact same opportunities as ALL of YOU.
Stop being vague and pointing to most people of a certain melanin count as being your frickin enemy. My word. For fricks sake make an actual argument without going on a bigoted tangent attacking people of a certain race. Think about your argument and how you might possibly be stretching truth and facts to push a slanted agenda. This is why positive talks fail to exist in so many instances. Once you make the accusation that minorities have no opportunities in America and all white people do, and that most white people are racist, you have lost your audience. You may as well get an alter account now because your opinion from now on will be discredited because of how asinine your WOW! points were.

Bunch of millionaire's who play a game for a living, bitching about how oppressed they are.
That culture is so needy.
I could have sworn they were speaking on the oppression of others, not themselves explicitly. But yeah since they are doing well personally how dare they care about how others are treated?

Honestly we are vague because we could write a dissertion on the various ways POC in particular blacks have been and continue to be disenfranchised, even under the guise of equality.
You're smart enough to look up these historical, present and empirical facts/stats yourself. Your argument is just a counter for it because you don't care and are comfortable with laws saying everything is a okay.

Show me the exact law saying if a person has a melanin content of X amount he is subject to these things as an American citizen, but a person with a melanin count exceeding XY can only have these things as an American citizen. Show me a valid law that states this.
Has this country had a past where POC were treated unfairly? My God yes. Are there still racist pricks in this country? Yes, but for the most part they are few and modern culture treats them like retards and wish they would stf up.
Drop the frickin empirical BS, the MF'n emperor is black. You point to historical shite that no one will argue with, but then you lump all white people together like empirical shite in the past hasn't caused transgressions against most races, ethnicities, and religions.
Live in the now, stop pointing to things in the past that can't be fixed and focus on the present. What today has to be fixed to make the plane level, in your eyes?

quote:LOL... yeah. Guess what, David Duke says the same thing on his side:
Notice how usually, when people say they are proud to be black, it has nothing to do with feeling superior to whites, but more so a shared feeling of love appreciation and pride for there culture, history, customs and traditions?
"Duke firmly insisted he is not a white supremacist, he has consistently rejected that label, and classified himself as “a human rights activist” who’s concerned about the government trying to “destroy the European people in America by making us a tiny minority.”"

Is that better? I just don't want to have you play your semantic game all day in here. Too early in the week for you to get started on that

You think equating the white power salute to a raised fist is semantics?
Bless your heart.
Sometimes you just gotta take the L, man. It was a bad thread, bad comparison. Not much else to say on this one.

So frick the salutes shel, what if Danny Woodhead wore a towel that said White power, and Bennet wore a towel that said black power during the anthem
Now you can't play your semantics. The towel says the exact same thing
How differently would the NFL respond
Go on....

No need to get pissy with me for your frick up, it isn't exactly my fault you don't understand what a raised fist means.
Too funny.
SEMANTICS!!!

You are so predictable You haven't actually said anything in here. Except that a white power symbol is different than a black power symbol, without explaining why. But alas, you will post another laughing emoji
Posted on 9/12/16 at 10:26 am to lsupride87
So when you people talk about "POCs," I'm assuming you are discounting Indian-Americans, many of whom are as dark or darker than persons of sub-Saharan African descent. Not only are they (persons from the Indian subcontinent) not a part of the grievance industry, they largely embody the model minority.
And, many appear to be Trump supporters . . . So, what's up? I'm in need of some enlightening.

quote:Actually, I did explain the difference, multiple times. Sorry you missed it.

But nah, you're right, those dudes with the clenched fist did so meant basically the same exact thing that the skinhead with the Nazi flag did in the pic on the 1st page that YOU posted. Is that your assertion? Again, you're all over the place, try to get it together and make coherent points, and accept it when you frick it up.
Are you really insinuating that you didn't botch that OP?
Posted on 9/12/16 at 10:35 am to shel311
I am saying a white person saying "white power" is no different than a black person saying "black power." No more, no less
Pretty simple concept

Not sure what else to tell you. You think the dudes who clinched a fist yesterday think the exact same as Nazi skinheads who hate every non-white race, want reacial purity, are against any sort of minority advancement.
Yea, it's completely laugh out loud funny that you think the dudes who clinched a fist yesterday think THAT.
Black power is about racial pride, but it is also about racial equality. Do some people use that incorrectly, of course. White power isn't about equality and there's no one on this planet using white power for anything other than white supremacy. You disagree? Obviously you do, which is why I said "bless your heart" because that's off the wall funny.

A raised fist is an universal symbol of unity.
No, in this context it means "black power", which was a popularized movement after the death of MLK, Jr. It was originally meant to be nonviolent, but it's support only grew through guys like Huey Newton and other men who advocated violence against white supremacy.
