halftime is for making adjustments and game planning the second half.

what the frick did our offense brain trust do in the locker room? we had it going mixing it up with short passes and timely runs. we had Jax on the ropes. we had the ball first and had just had 3 very successful (and long) drives.

we go out and COMPLETELY CHANGE the plan. for the third qtr and about half of the fourth qtr we swung for the fences. wanting a quick score. this had to have been our plan, right? we had two passes that should have been TD's (Guice and Dupre) but we seemed to pretty much abandon what was working.

this is concerning. maybe they were just trying to see how Etling could throw deep and knew the game was in hand. but it seems like that could easily be established in practice.

I just don't understand changing out of something that was working.

Miles is the most stubborn person I have ever seen.

Do not try to find a reasonable explanation, because there simply is not one that makes any sense.

Les must go...

We had a big lead. When you have a big lead, you run the ball and chew the clock up. It's that simple.

Miles has a long history at LSU of taking what works in the first half of a game and completely abandoning it in the second.

Especially if he has any kind of lead.

Not when you have an inept offense for 7-8 seasons out of 11 and a new QB before conf play starts.

they should work in their weakness and try to improve.

Yeah we sure don't need any work on passing game at all, especially with JS and SEC play beginning next week; we are a fine tuned machine!

I would have loved to see more of what we saw in the second quarter, but real work is done in practice, not against cupcakes.

Les Miles doesn't have the word adjustment in his vocabulary. That's why he is an average football coach. Great coaches make great adjustments. Miles just stands there and ask the special position we created if we have any timeouts left.

Right but les will most likely go 9-3 to keep his job and Lsu will continue to accept mediocrity

He didn't. The run game was working better.

Only passing 6 times in a half is not going to get it done in November

Surely even you can admit as much

I don't know the answer but I will speculate that the coaching staff wanted to see(1) if Etling could make the longer passes under game situations; (2) if our receivers could get open and catch the ball; and (3) if our offensive line could pass protect well enough on longer routes to give the QB time to throw. Having said that, I absolutely hated the second half of the ball game.

It didn't change that much to me. The only difference was in the first half you had completed passes. Second half you did not.

Adjustments? Like changing the qb?

You realize 3 diff qbs played last night right?

Not what they are talking about.

I was hoping Nick would get a td.

Listening to the game on the radio and they were talking with Miles about the first half and Miles replies that the defense was on the field too long and we were going to work on the running in second half to solve that problem.

Not when you have a new QB and NEED reps to practice against a good team. You need to hit other people. You need to choke them down. You need realtime practice.

Exactly. I was in Lexington for the 2007 Kentucky game where Scott ran wild in the first half only to disappear completely in the second. That's not the only time that Miles has abandoned a successful game plan, but it's probably the one that most Tiger fans remember.

The 2012 Bama game may be the most painful example. The Gumps had no answer for Mett, Beckham, and Landry, but Miles decided to get cute in the final 2 minutes, and we all know how that turned out.
