Their band had more people, so yeah they were louder.

Can't wait until our band does a Daya halftime tribute

It's starting to seem like everyone's band plays louder. Seriously

For starters, Jacksonville State having an awesome band is kind of their thing. Their show was so good, I haven't seen something done that well in person since I went to a DCI show.

Here's the thing though: they're held to that standard. LSU doesn't try to be great at halftime shows. They're not held to that standard. Of course I'd argue a majority of the time practicing is spent on Pregame, that being the most important thing that all fans actually care about, but still. These are kids that are capable of doing everything JSU did besides volume just due to numbers. Tiger Band has, in my experience, just been held to a relatively lazy standard.

I'm seeing promise of a newer, higher standard with the new director, though.

Maybe more students would want to join the band if they got to play music during the game instead of sitting there listening to ear splitting rap.

So we win the game, just lost the band thing? I'll take it.

Seriously. I feel for the people who were there last night. I intentionally listened to the Blair call of the game for a few minutes, and the rap snippets being played between downs on defense was so loud, Blair was having to yell and it was still overpowering him.

Thanks for the compliments.

I was brought to tears when I heard what your band had done for our Ballerinas. As you may know, one of our young ladies was killed in an auto accident this week. Your band made a hand drawn card with her likeness surrounded by roses and they all signed it, and presented it along with flowers to our band. I found that really touching.

Yes. This was very obvious to everyone. You have to ask yourself....
Why does a school as small as JSU have a band of 550 while LSU, a school of over 30,000 have a much smaller band (fewer than they have had in recent years)? And at the same time college bands are reporting "massive growth" around the country? My take.....band leadership.

The students in the band are doing the best they can. However, they are handicapped by a sub standard staff. Their new leadership has never been in charge of a college marching band, EVER. Would we hire a head coach at LSU that had never been a college head coach...I hope not.

Our band is way down in members this year. Plus, our band used to be very brass heavy which is why they always sounded louder than other bands.
Poor leadership = poor band performance, every time.

You obviously know more than I do on the state of TGBFTL, but JSU has a better band than most schools.

It'll be OK.

JSU had over 550.
Did you count the LSU numbers?
How do you account for this.
