Ironically, the little bark scorpions that are half that size pack a worse punch than those things.

I wouldn't say random or wild, but I used to live in the French Quarter a few years ago. 3rd floor apartment.

One night i woke up in the middle of the night hearing some deep scratching noise. Like wood grinding of some sort. I had a door in my bedroom that led outside to the balcony, but I never used it and had my dresser in front of it.

Well the grinding sound was coming from right behind the dresser. I pull the dresser out the way and there's a giant fricking rat that gnawed a huge hole in my door. I threw a shoe at it and it scurried out.

But that motherfricker must have been sleeping with me on numerous occasions the work he put in. The whole corner of my rug was chewed up too. I felt disgusted and violated, and ended up nailing a giant sheet of tin to the bottom of my doors.

Unintentionally chased a 2 1/2 ft long black snake inside. Never found it. I figure it hid somewhere until it died.

We had an owl get into our house when I was a kid.

Killed a copperhead in my neighbor's kitchen a cpl years ago.

A bird flew down the chimney at the Missus's parents' house a few years ago.

Oh and a hummingbird once.

That's all I can think of.

That mess happened to me at an apartment years ago. Used to keep my mattress set on the floor (thought it was clean and sanitary) and then one night before bed I was cleaning up and pulled out the mattress only to find a ton of mouse droppings all under the mattress and against the wall where it was up against. Damn mice must have cozied up with me more times than I ever want to admit.

Probably from all the gerbils and hamsters you've had in your bed... among other places.

Black bear. Pushed open the door breaking it in the process, pulled my garbage on the deck.

Well at least the bear was kind enough to eat outside.

Yeah, he left a path of muddy paw prints through the living room though. It could have been worse, people in town had one fall through their skylight into the middle of their kids birthday party a couple of years ago.

LINK

quote:

“I heard this cracking,” said Merrill, who was preparing for his son’s first birthday party. “And the next thing you know, there’s this bear that, I mean, literally, fell right from (the skylight).”

He said he and the bear were about 3 feet apart and just stared at each other in disbelief.

Merrill, 45, had his parents take his son, Jackson, upstairs, and he went into another room and shut the door. Bishop, 33, was standing in the kitchen behind a glass door and watched the bear help itself to some cupcakes intended for the child’s birthday bash.
