I know this sounds trite, but it seems legitimate considering all the posters who think the Tigers will lose on Saturday.

Should be white for the home opener right?

White for home opener, white for SEC, purple for all other home non-conference games

Purple for non-conference home games except for the home opener. Always white in the home opener regardless of opponent.

So that settles it. It'll be white, but-

Didn't they wear purple against McNeese St. prior to the lightning?

Saban actually went on a rant about that and talked about scheduling smarter. What he meant was contractually where LSU gets to choose uniforms. For some reason in the contract Oregon St choose

I remember this. The rule is that in the SEC, the home team has preference on uniform color, but for out of conference games, the away team still has the prerogative to wear their road whites. Oregon State insisted on whites because they wore black jerseys and didn't want to bake in the south LA heat.

What the last poster said was correct. Oregon State felt wearing black jerseys was not a good idea in early Sept. OCC games the visitors have jersey choice and almost all let LSU have our tradition but Oregon State said no. We wore purple and it was a freaking monsoon before the game.
