He's not that good to not take a chance on someone else.

That salary is lazy AD playing it safe.

And Iowa was solid way before Kirk.

15 years before Kirk

From 1981 - 1998.

3 Rose Bowls
2 Peach
3 Holiday
2 Sun
2 Alamo
1 Gator

15 years with Kirk

1 Rose Bowl
2 Orange
2 Alamo
4 Outback

Insight and Taxslayer

What the hell is the difference?

So basically, a very solid 30 year run for Iowa with two solid coaches. I'll take that.

Hayden Fry was one of the greatest college coaches ever.

Before Fry, in the 60's and 70's, Iowa was basically what Kansas is today.

Iowas big/ old money boosters remember that. They know how good Fry was. They see Nebraska and know how far one bad hire can set them back. So they're willing to take a couple bad seasons, and mostly average seasons to keep the occasional conference contenders.
