Skill guys don't win championships

We take so much pride in whipping arse on the wide open offensive teams and the defenses built to stop them but 90% of the posts are focused on the skill positions.
If we want to win we have to get better on the offensive line because we need to play this style of football. Yeah, our qb needs to throw accurately but scheme-wise our plan stunk. This offensive line will get taken behind the wood shed when they play an SEC defense.

Miles and company will still be "developing" the qb's. The problem will remain

And they don't win games either, apparently

I agree that our line was bad and needs to improve. But they are playing guys that know what's coming every play.
Imagine how much easier tests would be with the answer key

It doesn't matter how good your line is when teams aren't forced to defend the entire width of the field. Running 1 or 2 wr's in routes for pass plays will never work. The other team always having one more man than we can block, makes it nearly impossible to have success against teams as big and as strong as you. We completely throw away our athleticism advantage when we play this bunched up offense.

We don't really use skill players on offense though.. so how would we know.
but of course the line is most important.

Ole Miss under Brewer and TT always had good skill guys but never the linemen and LBS to compete. Great linemen can make average skill guys look good

Yep, I agree. They were putting 7 or 8 up and making the line guess who would come. A five wide set with LF7 in the slot would have forced them to back out. Keep throwing hot routes until they all start pressing then burn them

All football games are won in the trenches. It's the line of scrimmage that makes the difference.

O-line is weak this year. Pocic and Clapp have not fully recovered from surgery.

Just running three or four WR's with Forunette back there would have made a world of difference. You don't have to do this against every team all of the time. However if you play a Bama, Arkansas, Wisconsin or any team that can match your power and size, you must not play to their strength. Look at Fornuette's last run in the last drive where he got nicked. Look at the huge hole he had that was not there all game. It was because of the formation, and they didn't know what was coming.

They give a skilly the Heisman every year but about the only one I can recall easily who won it with crap linemen was Barry Sanders. LF7 is nothing without the guys in the trenches.
