In the midnight hour, what weird thoughts arise?

It is late. The world sleeps and all fhe trappings of it seem to fade to that dull grey, illuminated by streetlights and candles and lit cigarettes in the dim dusky darkness.

So, past the veil which sleep forgets, in the witching hours, what keeps you awake?

Why is it when the moon shines its naked eye upon us that we are not the creatures we are in the light?

For eons, since we climbed from the primordial soup and became that thin sliver above the common beasts, we have sat around the gift of Prometheus and fallen prey, one by one, to the lord of heavy eyes.

But there are always some that escape that fate, and dwell in these godless hours.

Here where plots are hatched and wicked tales told among the dwindling drips of wax.

What keeps you up at night?

What problems?

This is the thread to lay them on.

There is truth in this vast darkness if you seek it.

The night shift cost me wife and life and strife.
But now I return to it again. With sin and gin and those restless kin.

It's hell, innit?
No matter how we spin it the deathless nocturne sounds again, it,
Screams a name. A game that can drive a man insane.

Like the call of Cain.
Yet some remain.

Does it matter what we call it?

It is the Nightwatch that have always kept vigil in these interminable hours before the sun blinds us.

Brothers, fate has seen fit that I return to this wretched fold.

I greet thee from midnight's veil.

It would seem so.

The night beckons an I, it's prodigal son, returns to its cruel bosom to suckle the at the teat of this place where the sun is but a memory.

Let's tell some tales.

I think about exes and how happy they probably are while I watch reality TV shows and think about how miserable I am.

Brother, what I would've done could fill volumes.

I'll be out your way over that damnable bridge until we win the playoffs as it stands.

That's the only silver lining of working nights. That fricking bridge will take a few years off your life
