The Good Dinosaur has a similar scene to the Mufasa scene in Lion King. It's not nearly as iconic or anything, but the circumstances are similar (although the father wasn't pushed off)
You mean murdered?
but yeah that scene sucks too where a dad dies saving his son.

Is willy wonka and the Chocolate Factory G rated? If so, those oompa loompas used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid. Especially that part when the girl fell in the trash chute for bad eggs and they were singing while looking down the hole and into the camera. Don't know why but that scared me

Madame Medusa sucked balls. Scared me to death at a very young age.

Old Yeller messed me up pretty good.

Watership Down was rated U in the UK, which is roughly equivalent to a G rating in the US (it was rated PG in the US, but even that's not strong enough).
None of those were even the most traumatizing scene for me, which was when they caught a runaway rabbit and three other rabbits scratched him up as punishment/torture.

WD was hardcore. I started to watch it with my kids when they were little, and very quickly said "nope, nope, nope."
I had only read the book...same with Red Fern, so I knew better than to watch the movie.
But Bambi is the correct answer to OP...at least for older generation.
ETA Rikki Tikki Tavi was one that stressed me out as a kid...but don't remember if it was traumatic or just scary to a 4 year old.

There's a movie called Gallavants that came out in the 80s. It is about growing up, but there's a scene in there when the main character loses something or other and begins to cry in song and the damn screen blurs as if you're seeing the world through his eyes and tears and I swear to God I cried every time.

It's Bambi's mamma by a mile

My child is not allowed to watch Bambi until they are 18. Frick that movie.

I'm not sure if it's been listed yet, but The Secret of NIMH was pretty scary for me as a kid.

The first ten minutes of UP was about as traumatizing an opening as I can remember in any film
