I'm actually going to pick Coldplay. Now I know, I can't stand them either, but how many times have you listened to alternative radio since 2011 and heard indie bands which sound exactly like Coldplay? Clearly, their sound was a huge influence on many bands to follow.
There's not too many bands around that still sound like Shinedown, Creed, or Nickleback, but there's a shite ton that sound like Coldplay.
