That's a bold assumption that no one will really bother to argue about in 5-6 years if he goes back into the draft.

No it would be the same time, he would have 5 years with the Chargers now. If he goes back in the draft a team that takes him will give him a 4 year deal. Essentially he becomes a FA at the same time. He will lose money but he and his family don't need the money. That is why I'm glad to see him take a stand against the Chargers.
Most players cave because they need the money.
