My insurance company will not let me handle the rebuilding of my home. They are telling me that I have to go through a licensed contractor. Can anyone here recommend a good contractor in the Baton Rouge/Denham Springs area?

TIA

Would love to hear more about your insurance experience. What caused them to pay for a rebuild? How much are they allowing?

I am waiting on my adjuster and thinking that they will pay the full policy amount on mine as well.

Do you have a mortgage or do you own it outright ?

I am guessing if you have a mortgage, they are basically looking out of the lender. If you own it outright I don't see why they won't just pay you.

Tough spot, every GC around is going to have work coming out of their ears.

MIchael @ bamincla dot com

His stuff will mainly come later on but he did help with electrical already and got me gutted quickly. Am now beginning remediation. He's helpful as hell.

I have to take exception with this...it is your right as a homeowner to take on the re-building of your own home.

Insurance has no right to dictate who why or how you re build it. Their job is to indemnify your loss. Now mortgage company...different animal
