i think barry is talking about just hitting. im getting confused myself on if we are discussing hitting or all around players. obviously, votto doesnt offer too much outside of at the plate, so we might just be arguing different things here

i responded to the guy that said he was a top 5 player. I dont know where hitting came in from that.

I mean its not like he is Barry Bonds-good when he doesnt walk. Yea, im sure you'll cite runs created but that is a walk heavy stat. The guy is an excellent hitter, but i think he misses on opportunities to make more things happen by being so selective. If he played on a better team the fruits of his labor would be more widely accepted. But frick, you are on the Reds. Swing the bat. Hit more HRs, drive more runs in. You're OBP can still hover around .400
