I used one of those shucker gadgets and after a dozen or two I threw it away. Little flakes of shell break off as it is splitting the shell in two.

These tiny pieces fall into the meat part of the oyster and you can't get them out unless you do a lot of washing.

As I said before go to a oyster bar and talk to some of the shuckers to see if they would do it.

I worry about you folks. Throw away a $200+ shucker because you can't use it correctly?

You're supposed to use it on the hinge(where it's not paper thin), break the seal (without crushing the damn thing), then take a clean oyster knife to open it fully while cutting it from both sides of the shell.

I swear...you people.
