starring...
Robin Williams
Oprah Winfrey
David Banner
Alan Rickman
Forrest Whitaker
Jane Fonda
Lenny Kravitz
Terrance Howard
David Oyelowo
Cuba Gooding Jr.
John Cusack
Liev Shreiber
with Mariah Carey
and James Marsden as John F. Kennedy
(Based on a true story)
Imdb rating - 7.2
This was one that I wanted to see when I heard about it but never got around to watching it. How well was it put together following the presidency of each POTUS? Has an amazing cast. Although I do find some of the casting choices odd... (Whitaker portraying 19 years old to 91 years old, Marsden as JFK)

What a reeking turd of a movie. I expected to love it but absolutely hated it.

I was bored to tears. It wasn't a bad movie by any means, it just bored me.

Except that nearly everyone portrayed in the movie says it's total BS.
Never trust the claim "based on a true story".

This movie stunk. I can't believe I watched the entire thing.
If you want to see a good civil rights movie, watch Selma.

A good rule of thumb is a movie with the director's name in the title isn't going to be that great.
I thought it was very much a "look how bad whitey was" movie.

I love how this movie didn't get a single nomination for the Oscars. Lee Daniels and Oprah seemed to be confident it would win Best Picture, but the amount of pretentiousness and outright lies in the movie gave even the most liberal people in Hollywood a bad taste in their mouths.
Like for instance it says that Gaine's father was murdered and his mother was raped in front of him as a child by white people, when nothing like that ever happened. That is one hell of an addition to put onto a person's backstory.

That is probably why they changed the name of the character from Eugene Allen (the real guy) to Cecil Gaines.

after I saw that scene I had to look up the true story to see if that really happened to him because I could smell the bullsh*t.
I mean I understand it was the 1920's or whatever, but it wasn't Civil War time. Those were free men working on a farm, not owned slaves in fear of lashings from the Master...I'm sure if there are a bunch of large black men working outside together and 1 little white man rapes one of their women and shoots one of them in the head in front of everyone, they all would have stomped his freaking guts out, raped and murdered his raggedy old mother, and burned his house to the ground
I would have actually liked to have seen that version of this movie

Try anything at all. No Oscar or Golden Globe nominations whatsoever. This was too much pretentious bullshite even for the Oscars. Just let that process for a few minutes. If even they can smell the liberal pretentious bullshite, then you've gone way too far.

yeah it seems like a movie they made trying to get awards more than focusing on making a good movie
