I thought I read about them on this board a few years ago but couldn't find the topic.

Yeah, we had one when I was growing up.
It's just a domestic cat without a tail.

Namesake is the Isle of Man. Off coast of England.
Island is known for the Manx TT road race.

One of my friends has one. It's huge, has no tail and is pretty chill. Check out savannah cats and highland lynx's, they're pretty cool too. I have a savannah and she's pretty badass.

haha I really don't but I need a barn cat. I thought I'd try to get a cool cat at least. I thought I remembered someone saying this breed would come to their name and maybe even fetch. I could also be imagining I read all of this

My parents have one. It's more than no tail, they have a little different shape to their hips that gives them a distinct stance. Like you said they are also one of the less assholish of the cat breeds and are pretty friendly.

They have proportionally longer hind legs than other domesticated cats and a rounder head. Supposed to be among the best rodent hunters of all the domesticated cat breeds.

I have one. It's like their hips are rotated forward. Two bumps above their hips, along their spine are more pronounced. They run almost like a rabbit. They have a tendency to hop.
Will kill everything. Squirrels? Dead. Rabbits? Dead. Rodents? Dead.
Other than that, they are pretty chill. Very friendly. Anyone comes to visit it will sit in their lap. Hangs out with the lab. Acts more like a dog than a cat.
When we got this one, and took it to the vet, the vet asked me for the cat or where I had gotten it. He needed another barn cat and had a Manx before that.
Cons: They HAVE to go out at night to hunt. Otherwise, they will keep you awake wanting interaction.

Basically a dog trapped in a cat's body, isn't it? Except it can jump about 10 feet off the ground straight up. A lady the next neighborhood over has one. They walk it on a leash. Big frigggin cat. They also have a pig they walk on a leash.

Yeah she's a big ole cat. Mine probably can't jump 10 feet but she can easily jump over 5 straight up. The food bill is pretty high for her though. She eats like a damn cow. I can't convince her to walk on a leash. She's too stubborn.

Aren't these things several thousand dollars? My wife is a vet and works with exotics. She says they can be as much as $20,000

I got her from a breeder in Houston. F1's and F2's are the most expensive and can be up around $20k. there's no way in hell I'd spend that much on any animal. Mine is an F4. She's a little smaller and doesn't have the perfect color patterns that the 1's and 2's have.
