Im Excited but not excited about this at the same time because reading this article gives the feeling he is coming to recruit for Bama and we don't have a shot at all. I understand wanting to see LSU but come for the right reasons. This guy is rock solid to Bama I hope he takes the visit but try to really see what LSU has to offer
Leatherwood may have serious interest but Cowan I don't know
From article: "Both Cowan and Leatherwood are known as the primary recruiters for the defending national champions in the 2017 class. Like LSU pledges Tyler Shelvin and Austin Deculus, Cowan and Leatherwood are trying to lure prospects like 5-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson to team up with them in Tuscaloosa, Ala."

Just wondering, why waste the time on him?

You never really want to turn a recruit away I guess the coaches just have to trust he isn't coming to nega-recruit against the Tigers

Put his arse in an isolation room for the remainder of visit if this happens

They shouldn't waste their time on this guy.

Never burn a bridge. Things can turn on a dime in recruiting. I agree both of these guys are taking a free trip at this point, but the recruits recruiting recruits angle is a little overhyped. Remember last year when Shea Patterson was taking everyone with him to Ole Miss?

frick that
it's about spending time on your best opportunities. If you know the kid is solid to bama AND he is going to try and recruit for them while visiting, they shouldn't waste their time
IMO

I agree with you but this cowans is very outspoken about his love for Bama. You're right it changes on a dime so we will just have to wait and see. He is a monster on the field.

The way I look at this is:
Do you think it is more likely that a recruit or two will sway another recruit or two or that our coaching staff will sway the recruits?
I trust our staff and therefore see more potential gain than loss here.

I agree
We have a staff that can pull a rabbit out of a hat we will just have to see

Coaches can't afford to think like that. Just recently it would have cost us a five star in Jacoby Stevens to cut ties when it looked like he was locked up to someone else. These guys work 247, wasting time isn't really an issue, especially since the texting and contact rules have been relaxed.
Leatherwood and Cowan aren't taking someone's spot on the visit, or consuming attention that would be paid to other targets. Good recruiters provide every recruit with the amount of contact they want without crossing over to the point of annoying. That inevitably is gonna leave a few hours in the day to spend on longshots.
Like I said, things can change on a dime. One of these years Saban actually will retire. A crucial position coach could get another job, or a guy whose spot they promised could forgo the draft. If you cut ties, you ruin the chance to be the school that swoops in and capitalizes on that situation.

Am I the only one, who thinks this could be a Toll Ride Party on an LSU Campus?

Stevens and Cowan are far different. Stevens jumped around quite a bit and had numerous schools in mind. Cowan, if my memory serves me correctly, has been all tide for a while now.
I understand that but still think the risks outweigh the rewards in this instance. We aren't talking about Tennessee or Auburn here. Bama has a pretty damn good pitch. I'd like to keep anyone and everyone associated with them the frick away from LSU recruits. JMO.

While true, he was once committed to FSU so it just goes to further show the fluidity of recruiting.
