Riley will be solid?
Posted on 8/9/16 at 10:52 am to BigEdLSU
Yeah why wouldnt he be? Dude has put in a lot of time here, knows the ropes and has been solid previously. Playing time has finally opened up at LB for him. He'll be pretty good.
And just an FYI, I never thought highly of Lamar Louis, so I'm not just sunshine pumping here. I thought Riley was better than Louis all of last season.

My God, look at the talent at CB

I think the thing is that I haven't ever seen anyone (other than you now) define Valentine's main attributes as being "big and fat".
How about "big and explosive" instead - which seems to be how everyone else defines him. And this has nothing to do with where he has spent his past two seasons - his physical tools are what they are.
Sure, he will almost certainly be rusty for a few weeks or even more. And while recent reports are that he showed up at LSU in very good physical condition, I admit it is going to take some time until he is in true "football shape".
Frankly, it is probably wishful thinking for LSU fans to expect Valentine to have a Ricky Jean-Francois type of impact as soon as he steps on the field. But it isn't out of the question either. Valentine is an amazing physical speciman.

If DG moves away from NT, the listed group has 13 career tackles all Gilmore and three have zero total snaps. I'm not saying that those guys will not contribute, but this is a scary situation and Logan is the only other option and he is a true frosh as well.

Logan will play DE.
NT will be Gilmore, Valentine, Alexander, Lawrence, and Godchaux can fill in some as well.

Yep. I guess i'm not as concerned as some. Realistically, it'll be Valentine and Gilmore, with a sliver of freshman contirbution.
Overall DLine depth, yeah, it's not optimal.

Id rather see white there able to shed blockers but I'm not the coach

What really stands out to me is that Secondary! Out of those 14 players, only 2 are under 6'1"!!!!

White is a true freshman who didnt even play LB full time in high school. Now he's having to come in a fairly complicated scheme. White will get rotated in but he's not starting anytime soon. Riley has been rock solid when he's been called upon for years now.

Are we running a true 3-4 or a hybrid between 3-4/4-3?
Posted on 8/9/16 at 4:20 pm to ColeLSU
That's what I was thinking. Also, wouldn't make more sense to move a guy like Lawerence to NT position?

Okay. So now Thompson is out for a while. Divinity steps up. What does Voorhies look like?

MJ Patterson basically never being heard of
Aside from MJ, X. Lewis appears to be the most forgotten name on this chart. Thought he was a solid recruit at the time. How is he coming along?
