I've considered it on shallow reefs but it's not worth the risk. Fortunately I found a dive buddy that would be pissed if I went without her. (See avi)

Yep, hiking in and out of a large canyon is a different animal than hiking a mountain.

I was there about a week before, and it got pretty damn cold at night. Mild during the day.

Not sure why the downvotes...

I would dive shallow reefs solo, have dove cavern solo, and know many who do further cave exploration dives solo. Most things in life are more enjoyable shared with someone, but honestly, as I've stated earlier in this thread, some diving is safer done alone.
