Is Bobby Petrino what the "Golden Boot Rivalry" needed?

This game has the potential to be one of the best rivalries in the nation if you look at what these 2 great schools have in common.
- Both are the only important sports team in the state. (both dominate their states in recruiting)
- Both have the $$$$ and facilities, but Arkansas probably has the advantage of both.
- Both have a lot of history, but we have the edge in that category.
- we already play for a trophy, but it's the ugliest thing you'll ever lay your eyes on.
thoughts?

Well the Golden Boot is a joke and the rivalry isn't a real big rivalry to begin with...
But that being said, Bobby Petrino to Are-Kansas made the last game of the season very interesting.

COuld be. It seems the Arkansas/LSU game at the end of the year is becoming bigger and bigger. That can be noted by more and more threads by LSU fans swearing up and down that it is not a Rival game and the Trophy is Ugly etc etc.

Petrino doesn't make it any more or less significant than Nutt did, it is what it is, we should embrace the rivalry as it is all we have got as we are no one else's first choice as a rival.

We have not lived up to our side of the bargain as far as a rivalry with LSU is concerned.

I agree with Pioneer, not all of us Hog fans are like that.
The sad fact, as of now, LSU does not care about Arkansas, and LSU will never take the place of TX for Arkansas.
I suppose that over time, a few upsets, Arkansas becoming more competitive on a consistant basis, a rivalry could develop. Maybe.
I doubt I will ever despise LSU like TX though. I think I dislike the Aggies more for that matter.
We do not have a rival in the SEC, we just don't care about any of the teams like that.
The sad fact, as of now, LSU does not care about Arkansas, and LSU will never take the place of TX for Arkansas.

The fact remains that Arkansas will still have to recruit out of state to get to an elite level. Vince Lombardi could not when only with Arkansas talent. They will always be a mid major SEC program. They will have good years every so often but never a great year. As stated before if we close the fence around La. no need to worry, there is not major university within 6 hrs of BR.
