Good for him. Austin isn't a bad city to finish out your career.

Best of luck

Don't know anything about him. Is he a serviceable kicker?

he's aight, probably not the smartest career move for him as far as networking his LSU resume for the future but I'm sure he'll be just fine

He's had more ups than downs. Glad he landed at a good school.

Release: 07/11/2016
2015 Lou Groza Award Semifinalist

Veteran specialist entering his second season as the starting placekicker and reserve punter … A fifth-year senior in 2016 … Handled the majority of the kickoff duties for the Tigers in 2014 and split duties with Cameron Gamble in 2015 … Took over as LSU's field goal kicker in final two games of 2014 season … A former walk-on who earned a spot on the team and redshirted as a true freshman in 2012 … Started playing football as a junior in high school after playing soccer is entire life.

JUNIOR SEASON (2015)
Starting placekicker who finished 13-for-17 on field goals this season ... His streak of 10 straight made field goals during the season was the longest since Drew Alleman made 11 straight in the 2011-12 seasons ... Named a semifinalist for the prestigious Lou Groza Award … Missed his first field goal of the season at Ole Miss but did connect on a 43-yarder ... His streak of 42 consecutive successful PATs ranked eighth in LSU history but was snapped with a blocked attempt at Alabama ... Drilled a 39-yard field goal at Alabama ... Converted both field goals (34-yarder and 43-yarder) vs. Western Kentucky ... Scored a 16-yard touchdown run on a fake field goal against Florida that proved to be the winning TD ... Said he “blacked out” on the TD run and can't remember anything during the play ... Hit a career-best 3-for-3 on field goals, including a career-long 45-yarder, vs. Eastern Michigan ... Perfect day at Syracuse as he nailed 21 and 37 yard field goals and went 4-for-4 on PATs ... Kicked a 32-yard field goal, went 6-for-6 on PATs and boomed four of eight kickoffs for touchbacks against Auburn ... Split kickoff duty with Cameron Gamble throughout the season ... Kicked off 32 times, averaged 58.4 yards per kickoff and produced seven touchbacks.

He was a Lou Groza semifinalist last season. He doesn't have the biggest leg, but he's pretty accurate from 45 yards in.

Plus he can do this:

Good for him. Sad that he didn't get to finish his career at LSU, but I can see why he would go for a scholarship and likely starting job rather than competing for a job.

For almost all things, a UT degree is going to crush an LSU degree.

It gives me the sads.

I'd rather be able to network in Texas than Louisiana. Austin >>>>>> Baton Rouge.

Dumb move on Les' part to not get this kid a scholarship. Lou Groza finalist, returning starter and a senior and he doesn't get as scholly but lesser kickers on the roster do? Mistake.

The guy didn't have a scholarship until one opened up last summer. Les asked him to hang on until August anticipating that possibility. Domingue decided that wasn't in his best interest (maybe he know Valentine will be qualified and his chances go down) and that is understandable since August is late to expect to transfer into a scholarship.

I do not know which kickers have scholarship, I believe Culp does as an entering freshman. Hard to say yet if that is worth it, but he looks like a stronger legged version of Domingue. Time will tell, Domingue was dependable for short to intermediate distances and great as an extra point kicker. Culp looks to be a good kickoff guy as well.

Explain why Gamble deserves a scholarship more than our returning starter? It's inexplicable.

Gamble has a huge leg with lots of upside and is entering his third year

Domingue was alright for us but I never thought of him as much better than Colby
