Would a full grown hawk take a run at my 8 LB min wienie?

I've lived at my house for 13 years and never had any hawks around. I have a pair all of the sudden nesting in a tree line somewhere. One of them just dipped into my yard and took off right outside our bay window.

We chain our miniature dauschunds right there to do their business. One is 16 pds so not worried about her but the other one is 8 pds.

Wife wants me to shoot them but I could never shoot a raptor.

Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd be "aware". Gotta think some rabbits are 8+ wouldn't you think?

There was a video of one picking up a goat on the side of a cliff and dropping it to its death on YouTube. I'd say it's possible.

My grandparents have a chihuahua and we always have to watch it when it goes outside because half the time there will be a hawk circling hard above it.

I grew up with Choc labs but the wife talked me into these little girls and I kind of love them. I love hawks too so there is my problem.

Had a buddy with a little dog get some scratches on his back and head from a hawk trying to pick him up in the backyard. Not sure if they could get it done, but they will make a run at it.

Well then after the hawk eats the dog you can love the bird twice as much, problem solved.

Just kidding about that but the hawks will most certainly make an attempt at some point.

My neighbor had a 5 pound chihuahua taken by an owl
Saw it with my own eyes- if you could ignore the meltdown from his daughter it was pretty cool

I walked out on my front porch Saturday morning to a dead hawk and a dead Martin on the porch. The only thing I could figure was the hawk was chasing the Martin and they both flew into the house
