Technically, we are all born "racist" since we have a natural affinity for people that look like us and a natural distrust towards people that don't.


It's biology and nature.

I am unsure that is totally correct. We are wired to gravitate toward the familiar and that is typically those we look like but if we are raised with a group different than we are, the emphasis shifts toward the "race" we are familiar with.

It's the old nature vs nurture argument, though I think the argument is spurious. Ultimately, it is nature and nurture that dictates our predispositions as adults. And self awareness and determination that allows us to overcome those we deem as counterproductive.

Actually, black kids prefer playing with white dolls because they are perceived as being more clean. There have been plenty of studies on it
