re: Lineup for 2016

It won't be our starting five, and it might not be our finishing five, but I would bet our most effective lineup would be
Jrue-Moore-QPon-Hill-AD
That lineup can switch almost anything, shoot well, pass well, and rebound well enough
On paper, it doesn't look sexy, but AD and Jrue will get most of the shots, with the ability to kick it out to guys when doubled. And defensively, that will be our best lineup

That's my thought as well. Going to take awhile for Hield to get the minutes people expect.
Posted on 7/4/16 at 8:47 am to Fun Bunch
why do people think he'll have such a big learning curve?
Posted on 7/4/16 at 8:56 am to Lester Earl
Because 99% of rookies in the history of the NBA do. He is years behind someone like Moore defensively, and if you are just looking for someone to space next to Jrue and AD, Moore does that just as well as Hield right now
It takes guys a few years to learn how to be winning players in the NBA. Some guys can come in right away and put up stats, but that is different from a winning player.

that is just insanity. we draft a really old guy and we have to wait for contributions? meh

I guess my question should have been worded why dont you think he'll "get the minutes most expect"?
of course he'll have a learning curve. But he is also going to play 30+ minutes a night

Personally, I think Biddy gets plenty of minutes- because I know they are going to start him. One of their goals is to get him the ROY for both local and national exposure, but I still think the Moore lineups have a better bet rating

i just think people are overrating moore
i could be wrong, but i don't think that i am. i'll be happy to be wrong
but if moore is that good, then why did we use that pick on hiedl?
the whole point of drafting an old guy is so he is ready to contribute from day 1

Being your 7th or 8th best player and getting the 4th most minutes is contributing from day 1.
The list of rookies who put up good numbers on winning teams is VERY short. And this team is trying to win

I think ppl are overrating Buddy this year if he averages 12 points a game to me that will be a major win for his rookie year he has to learn the pro game it's going take him a year

we're not goign to be an elite team, so that argument is somewhat slanted
and most top draft picks aren't 22 these days, so again that's somewhat slanted
and i'm not talking about "big numbers". i mean 12-14 ppg at max
Posted on 7/4/16 at 9:21 am to BSB1988
he'll be closer to 15ppg, and that could go up once Holiday gets hurt
Posted on 7/4/16 at 9:25 am to Lester Earl
if his shooting translates, which it should, i could see him putting up 16-18 ppg range towards the end of the year. he's going to get open looks and will be given the green light to shoot from day 1
probably starts out in the 10-12 ppg range and that increases over the year as the team settles and he gets confident

we have to replace Gordon and Anderson's scoring, neither of the FA's we signed are going to do that completely.
Then Jrue and AD will have their annual injurys, so his scoring will be needed then.
and the talk of trading Tyreke for basically nothing opens up more scoring opportunities for Hield as well.
This team isn't good enough for him not to play a lot, and not to score.

To me if averages those numbers at any part of this season to me i think that means our season went down the drains because he shouldn't be getting enough shots to average those numbers on a playoff team
Posted on 7/4/16 at 9:33 am to Lester Earl
if tyreke can buy in, i really like him as the leader of the 2nd unit with moore and, if we get crazy, asik (assuming davis is at the 5 and hill starts at the 4). if not, you'll see tyreke/moore/qpon which could be nice offensively. add in cunning ham and anjica and that's some offense (defense will be shite but it is the bench group so just have them go play in a frenzy offensively and attack the other team)

why not? he's a top draft pick and is already 22. he's at the age where he should be contributing
if his shot translates, again, i believe it will, he'll get to shoot 5-6 treys a game without even forcing him the ball. if he hits 40% that's already 6-7.2 ppg. he won't get a ton of FTA early on (biggest area he needs to improve upon moving forward), but will get a couple points there. then you're already around 10 ppg from just that. it's not unreasonable

Hill will start at 3 and finish at 4, just like AD will start at 4 and finish at 5 in a lot of games.
My reason for Buddy not getting the minutes people expect is because I think people expect big minutes early. I don't think he will have the defensive acumen day 1 to close out a lot of games. He will get play and he will contribute. This team needs points with RA and EG gone.
But this team brought in 3Twaun for a reason. He will close out more games than Buddy will early on I think.
A lineup of Jrue/Moore/Q/Hill/ad has elite defensive potential. Sub in guys like Buddy and Evans to switch offense for Defense.

Playing Evans ball means sacrificing the entire reason we brought Gentry in in the first place.
You dont trade good players for a coach who has never won anything.

i love tyreke but he's not nearly good enough to make this sort of statement
tyreke's style is out of favor right now and he hasn't really won much himself with that style
