Tougher team to make US Swimming or Track?

The Olympic trials may be both sports most talented meets in the respective sports.

I think it's the track team, but US Swimming is probably just as deep.

Track. If you're a freestyler you only have to finish top 6 to make the relay team and you have multiple events with more opportunities.

Ledecky was swimming the 800 through the 100. That would be the equivalent of Galen Rupp running the 400

Track, and it is not even close. It is so much harder to even make the trials.

Swimming. There are several times where 3rd in the Trials would have medaled in the Olympics. I remember the men's 100 Back in 2008 where the top eight all would have medaled. The United States dominates Swimming at a much higher rate.

Swimming... I've yet to see track dominate in the fashion swimming does. We get over 1/3 of our medals. Last night a guy didn't make the team and is a current top 5 in the world.
